Kingdom Hearts 4 Team Provides Dev Update, Shares New Screenshots

Square Enix ended up releasing the Kingdom Hearts series as cloud games on the Switch, and while it wasn’t exactly what fans wanted, there’s always hope for the Switch 2 (and there have even been some rumours).

If you did happen to play through the cloud versions on Switch or are just curious to know what’s up next in the series it’s Kingdom Hearts IV. This title was originally revealed way back in 2022, and in a new update today, the team has issued a reminder it’s “currently working hard” on this new project and will reveal more details “when the time is right”:

“To our Kingdom Hearts community, We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts IV and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!

“We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support.”

The team has also shared some new development screenshots – with our pals at Push Square noting how it shows an updated Sora model, combat against the Heartless, and what appears to be a playable Mickey Mouse.

No platforms or release date have been announced for this title just yet, but considering the Switch 2 is out next month, it seems like Nintendo’s new platform could be in with a chance. Square Enix has already confirmed it will be bringing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade natively to Nintendo’s new system as well.
