Although Death Stranding might not have been the financial success story that PlayStation hoped for, Hideo Kojima’s critically acclaimed delivery series has still garnered plenty of acclaim over the years. While PC fans were finally treated to the release of its sequel after Sony’s limited exclusivity ran out this year, it seems a new project with the Death Stranding name is already on the way.
Although nothing has been officially announced just yet, some eagle-eyed fans have spotted a new copyright that seems to hint at the existence of a new Death Stranding project to follow up with Kojima Productions’ upcoming releases.
Another Death Stranding Project Is On The Way
Initially spotted by Superb-Employment291 on the Death Stranding Reddit, the discovery comes from Kojima Productions having filed a trademark for “Death Stranding Odradek,” which has already sparked countless theories on what the new spinoff could entail.
Although the official trademark doesn’t have any other information to dig into, unfortunately, the two biggest theories are that it could be a new Death Stranding-themed ARG created with Niantic who Kojima had posted about visiting a few months ago. Kojima Productions also already announced an official partnership with Niantic back in September of last year on YouTube, but we haven’t heard much about the results of it since.
While a Niantic ARG is the most likely, there has also been some speculation that the project could also be the title of the live-action Death Stranding movie, which was announced in April of last year.
There’s No Telling What Kojima Has In Store For Fans
Given that Xbox recently acquired Kojima Productions, there’s also the chance it could be an entirely new project that we haven’t heard about before, opening the door for even more ways to explore the series moving forward in the form of a live-action TV show or a completely new spinoff game.
Regardless of what form Kojima’s next project will take, it’s clear that the unique world of Death Stranding and its inhabitants still has plenty to offer for fans of the series, although we’ll likely have to wait quite some time for an official announcement if the project has only just been copyrighted.
