Stellar Blade. Love it or loathe it, Shift Up’s soulslike was one of the biggest talking points of 2024, earning itself a respectable 81 on Metacritic, with a user score of 9.2. With the game finally making its way to PC – and subsequently being blocked in over 100 countries – the hype is back, and all eyes are looking to a sequel. Fortunately, it seems like we might just get one, as alongside its mysterious ‘Project Witches,’ Shift Up is gearing up to release an unnamed sequel ahead of 2027, and, putting two and two together, that looks like Stellar Blade 2.
On page 19 of a new financials document, which outlines the developer’s proposed roadmap up to 2027, Shift Up lists various new titles, including the mysterious ‘Project Witches,’ which is rumored to be another action game in a similar vein to Stellar Blade.
Before that arrives, however, the roadmap states that there will be an unnamed Stellar Blade sequel, with both Witches and this mysterious project set to arrive before 2027. Said sequel is highlighted in light blue, and sits beneath the Stellar Blade banner, implying that, at the very least, this is a new game set in the game’s wider universe. Whether that means it’s Stellar Blade 2 is a different story – it could be more of a spinoff, for example – but either way, we’re going to see more of Eve.
With the Stellar Blade PC release date just around the corner, hype around the game has peaked yet again. The Steam version adds a brand-new boss to the fray, Mann, leader of the Sentinels, as well as various upscaling tools for so that you can experience the game in all its glory.
It has, however, come up against some issues, as the port has been banned in over 100 countries, much to Shift Up’s surprise. This presumably is due to mandatory PSN linking, which PlayStation ports consistently have issues with. In the wake of Helldivers 2’s particularly brutal review bomb and consistent complaints, we’ll see if this requirement is eventually removed.
