Tribute Games promised that we’d be getting Marvel Cosmic Invasion before the end of 2025, and if all goes to plan, it will deliver on that promise when the retro superhero beat ’em up drops on December 1. Turns out it will be getting a physical release too, we’re just going to have to wait a little longer for it.
The reveal that there is a physical release at all should come as a welcome surprise to those who are into that kind of thing. I am one of those people, and considering the retro nature of Cosmic Invasion, I don’t think I’m going out on a limb to assume I’m far from the only one who’d prefer a physical copy of the game if given the option.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion Has The Potential To Steal Shredder’s Revenge’s Beat ‘Em Up Crown
Who else but Tribute Games could one-up the best beat ‘em up of all time?
Cosmic Invasion’s physical release was revealed earlier today, with both a standard and a deluxe edition launching on March 13, 2026. Both editions will be available on all consoles – PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 – and the deluxe edition will include additional physical goodies that you won’t be able to get anywhere else.
What’s Included In Cosmic Invasion’s Deluxe Edition?
Your copy of the game will come in an exclusive SteelBook if you buy the deluxe edition along with a poster depicting the game’s cover art, and a collectible art box. However, the best part of the additional items you get with the more expensive version of Cosmic Invasion’s physical release is the art cards. 15 of them, one for each of the game’s playable characters.
The deluxe edition is naturally more expensive than the standard version. $59.99 on PS5, Xbox, and Switch, and $69.99 on Switch 2. If you’re just happy with a copy of Cosmic Invasion and you don’t need all of the added extras that come with the deluxe edition, you can pre-order the standard edition for $39.99 on PS5, Xbox, and Switch, or for $49.99 on Switch 2.
While I can’t confirm this is the reason the Switch 2 version of Cosmic Invasion’s physical release is more expensive, Tribute and Dotemu have confirmed the full game will be on the card. Game-key cards, which are little more than blank cards that trigger a download when inserted into your Switch 2 for the first time, have been a point of controversy since the Switch 2 launched. Third-party developers have opted for game-key cards due to how much cheaper they are than regular cards, so Cosmic Invasion putting the whole game on a proper card would explain the slightly higher Switch 2 price.
