Marvel Rivals Teases Mid-Season 2 Adjustments

Summary

  • Mid-season update for Marvel Rivals will enhance offensive potential of Strategists.
  • Expect minor adjustments to heroes like Groot and Captain America.
  • Performance rating calculations will be adjusted for fairer gameplay experience.

Marvel Rivals has teased the mid-season adjustments that will soon be coming to the game. Marvel Rivals is currently in its second season, which brought to players of NetEase’s shooter a new wave of content based on one of the most popular events in comics.

Inspired by the Hellfire Gala, the annual mutant celebration, Season 2 of Marvel Rivals kicked off on April 11 with another round of balancing of heroes and Team-Ups, adding new abilities and removing some that already existed. A map based on the mutant nation of Krakoa was added, and after several leaks, Emma Frost debuted as the game’s new Vanguard. Several new skins were released for characters such as Doctor Strange and Peni Parker, along with the ability to customize skins with different colors for Winter Soldier, Luna Snow, Magik, and Psylocke. With the season approaching its halfway point, the developers are preparing to bring out yet another update.

The damage range of Spider-Man’s Amazing Combo will be slightly lowered, and Doctor Strange will need less energy to use his ultimate.

NetEase Teases What to Expect of the Upcoming Marvel Rivals Update

Marvel Rivals will adjust Team-Up abilities, and although it hasn’t given full details of what’s to come, a small buff for Winter Soldier’s Tainted Voltage and Team-Up ability was mentioned. In addition to confirming that Ultron will be the next Marvel Rivals character, NetEase plans to introduce minimal changes to improve the experience of certain heroes without having a huge impact on the meta. Once the mid-season patch is available, the development team will consider broader and more significant balance changes.

In addition to the balance changes and adjustments, the mid-season update will adjust the performance rating calculations based on the most recent data. According to NetEase, it has been noticed that certain Duelists have a greater advantage in performance ratings in Season 2, while some Marvel Rivals Vanguards and Strategists are at a disadvantage. In this way, the new calculation will ensure greater fairness across all characters, giving players a more reasonable chance of having better ratings regardless of the role played.
