During the yesterday’s Pokémon Worlds 2025 Day 2 Twitch Stream, Pokémon GO developers revealed that the next Season will bring massive move changes in Trainer Battles, including many Energy and damage related changes. In addition to these balancing changes, a lot of Pokémon will be able to learn new moves, especially Dragon-type Pokémon.
The switch timer will also be reduced to 45 seconds, down from 50 seconds. This change will also affect Trainer Battles against friends, Team GO Rocket battles, and team leader battles. The devs said they are “trying out a reduced switch timer and will reevaluate the change for next Season and onward.”
With that being said, here is the full list of move updates coming with the next Pokémon GO season. There’s no official confirmation yet about when Season 24 starts or whether it begins on September 2 or 3—but that’s the expected timing window.
Season 24 is bringing a big list of move updates aimed at changing the PvP meta to be more divers. Several key Fast and Charged Moves are getting adjustments to power, energy generation, and debuffs — with Dragon-types at the center of this meta shift.

Dragon Breath and Dragon Tail now generate more energy, while Dragon Claw sees a power jump — but at a higher energy cost. Dragon Pulse becomes cheaper to use, and Breaking Swipe sees a nerf in energy efficiency, though it gains a guaranteed debuff to decrease target’s attack.
Aura Sphere becomes cheaper but slightly weaker, Charm now generates more energy at the cost of reduced damage, and Ember has a similar tweak to increase viability. Other moves like Body Slam, Drill Peck, Rock Slide, and Weather Ball see modest power increases, while Sky Attack and Seed Bomb receive minor nerfs.
All in all, this will bring a massive change to the meta, with an expected raise in Dragon-type usage, reduced Charm usage, but also new PvP combos like Mud Slap Nidoqueen, Leafage/Mud Slap Torterra, Giratina buffs, etc. Will be interesting!
