The Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration with Final Fantasy 14 arrives next week as part of the game’s third free update, and will include Jobs from the MMORPG.
Specifically, players will be able to take the role of a Pictomancer and Dark Knight, with special abilities available depending on equipped weapons. The Pictomancer is a mage who wields magic through painting, while the Dark Knight wields a greatsword infused with darkness.
The collaboration was first revealed at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, but now we know it’ll be available from 29th September.
The collaboration will also include a new quest to defeat Omega Planetes, which will include unique battle mechanics.
Other Final Fantasy elements will include Palico and Seikrat equipment, pendants and gestures, and outfits.
Alongside the collaboration, the third update will also include Arch-tempered Nu Udra, new quest completion animations, and more. A Halloween-themed event called Dreamspell is also on the way.
Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto also thanked the community for their feedback, alluding to criticism of the game’s technical performance. He stated the team is “working on implementing improvements and adjustments”.

The fourth free update for Monster Hunter Wilds will include “various improvements”, as well as more endgame content and a brand new monster called Gogmazios. It’ll be available in December.
Players have been complaining about the game since its release, with Capcom revising its roadmap back in July.
