A prolific Red Dead Redemption 2 content creator has made a mod that recreates Mortal Kombat within the historical wild west game, and it’s both hilarious and awesome. While Red Dead Redemption 2 can get considerably dark and grisly, there’s normally a big difference between the two games, given their disparate themes and genres.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge game that can potentially keep players busy for hundreds of hours, with fans regularly sharing surprising discoveries they’ve made in the game. However, it’s also become a playground for numerous modders, who have done everything from upgrading textures to 8K to totally changing the way the game works.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mortal Kombat Collide
Content creator Blurbs has shared a new mod that he built to entertain his viewers, this time doing his best to turn Red Dead Redemption 2 into Mortal Kombat after a fan recommended it. Blurbs modded the game so that as soon as a fist-fight is engaged, the camera switches into the profile view that classic Mortal Kombat was locked in. Then he added health bars, sound effects, combos, and even Mortal Kombat Fatalities. Blurbs set it up so that when Arthur successfully triggered the Fatality, a train would spawn out of nowhere and run his opponent over. The content creator shows the process of building and testing the mod, demonstrating everything from successful moments like explosive Mortal Kombat-like blood spurts and gore, to funny mistakes, like Arthur getting run over by his own Fatality train.
Unfortunately, Blurbs hasn’t published the mod he built to achieve this, so players won’t be able to brawl their way through Red Dead Redemption 2 in Mortal Kombat style themselves. However, those who are interested in the weirdness created by this content creator may be interested in his next projects, as he’ll be choosing comments to turn into wacky mods for Grand Theft Auto 5 next. Blurbs previously also shared a mod that gave backstories and flashbacks of NPCs’ lives in Red Dead Redemption 2, with some pretty funny results, as he let his community choose the dialogue that would play during the scenes.
While the likelihood of seeing Arthur Morgan in a legitimate Mortal Kombat game seems extremely low, this fan’s efforts give an idea of what it might be like. Some fans would likely love to see Arthur Morgan included in a Mortal Kombat game to see what he would be capable of in the fighter. However, feelings might be more mixed about seeing Morgan as the recipient of some of Mortal Kombat‘s most gruesome moves, as fans might not want to see him dismembered, for example.
