So here's what I think:
A release date delay would suck, but it would be very understandable. We all want this game to be the absolute best that it can be, especially since we'll probably spend the next 10-15 years with no GTA VII.
However, this much radio silence is very extreme, more severe than I've ever seen in my 20 years of being a gamer. Sure, a burst marketing strategy might be more effective, but to leave dedicated fans high and dry for >15 months is insane. Let alone a trailer, let alone screenshots, let alone a release date, if Rockstar (not Take Two) simply came out and said "Yep, game's still coming", even that would be a momentous occasion – the info drought is THAT bad.
Sincerely hoping that the end product will be worth it (AKA the undisputed best game ever made). Expectations were already high because Rockstar, they were even higher because the game is following RDR2, then they escalated even more because of how much time it's taking, now it's rising even further because of this "ghosting the fanbase" strategy. If they don't actually have a 10/10 product on their hands, they're digging themselves a grave. (They won't financially fail of course, but long-term trust will ABSOLUTELY be shattered.)

i Bought civ 7 my grandma saw the sign with me and pointed it out and i bought it but the hype is dead for me after having it and man im kinda bumbed because i know gta 6 might be a major success but also i think the gaming industry needs to learn from this gta cycle because we cant have anymore games waiting – 12 years for new games but im ready for these great leaps for releases in games

how about instead of expecting a trailer 3 & 2 gameplay trailers, why not just take what T2 said about how they do marketing to heart and just expect trailer 2 to come out AFTER their last Q2025 earnings call. Since there's a chance that within that call they would've announced a solid release date for GTA 6.
After we get trailer 2, expect a huge drought of nothing till we eventually get a gameplay launch trailer on said release date.
