It's been a crazy 24 hours! Let's talk about the launch!
W weapon customization
So the whole point of this game was for you to figure out making an actual good game isn't easy at all
I hope people aren’t just review bombing because of who you are
Just think it’s good you’re taking the criticism now you know that next game if you do make one to pace the intro better, make the Ai more intelligent, and better the stealth it’s a first step call of duty is a multi billion dollar company and their ai is horrific I’ll buy this and give it ago when I get paid later this month,
shit game
what i dont get is why games back in the day were basically glitchfree on release. nowadays people allready know that there will be problems… is the art lost ?
Congrats on release, but seeing counting 5 videos about it turns me off from looking at it.
Yeah, i'll give the game a shot. Need something FPS to wash the taste of Black Ops 7 out my mouth. Surely your AI can't be worse than that.
i think its a really damn good first try at making a great fps shooting feels good ai could be better wish there was a bit more cutscenes
The way the game looks in regards to general aethestics, gunplay, and especially level design is all Very well done for a small studio. That said making a good Looking game is not the same thing as making a well Designed game. A single player FPS game is almost entirely dependent on AI creating engaging situations and forcing players to react to different challenges they present in different situations. The game does not deliver on that at all and on the contrary every single engagement is largely the same as AI just mindlessly run to their death no matter what the map layout is and lack any sense of strategy or cohesion. The fact that the first intro levels of the game are the perfect setup for the AI to do exactly that on full display indicates that a lot of time was spent on a lot of things to make the game look and seem high quality but making a good Looking game is very different than making a well Designed game. Whoever did the level design killed it. Whoever designed the gameplay was probably too impressed by how good the level design was that they mistook it for everything else being well designed when in reality the core elements of what makes a single player FPS good were not there. In 2025 all the tools and tutorials and resources are openly available to make a game, but to Design a game is a whole different beast and this game lacks that visionary foundation that results in an engaging expierience. AI that run to their deaths combined with an intro level that sets them up perfectly to do that shows a fundamental misstep in Design.
Respect for listening to the criticism and not taking it too personally
Launching at Mixed out the gate is not bad compared to some big games, but definitely hope that there's actually work to push things towards getting a mostly positive with some updates and adjustments. A lot of this talk sounds like it's out, and it's done, and it is what it is. The real solution is to keep working it for a while, instead of simply passing the buck to the next game. In any case, a game like this is not likely to ever hit overwhelmingly positive feedback considering a stealth tactical first person shooter set in a sci-fi cyberpunk world with a lot of first person dialogue is also niche.
I'll check it out but for me the yapping in the demo I saw definitely seemed like a turnoff. Dialogue, if it's gonna be during gameplay, really really needs to be brief, well acted, and well written. But mostly brief. Once it gets beyond maybe a single back-and-forth every 4-5 minutes of gameplay, and an occasional one-liner, it's getting to be a lot. The rest is good for cutscenes or pauses in the action where characters are having a conversation. Half Life had plenty of those, and Freeman ain't say shit.
Played the tech test or beta and enjoyed it, I have not had a chance to play yet but def gonna buy it. Glad it is released dont listen to the haters man. Congrats on the release
Is it good
There is no point making anything anymore because we live in postmodernism where white boys want to feel rich and powerful and paternalistic and theyll hatebomb anything that can use for their tantrum
Did you do a lot of blind playtesting, as in playtesting from people who aren't already fans and people who have never heard of Bigfry or Transience at all? These seem like things that might have been flagged pretty early on and could have avoided. I suspect a large portion of the negative feedback was people going in with intense criticism to begin with so I imagine it could be hard to filter out what's genuine feedback and what's just noisy people picking on anything because its bigfry lol.
Doesn't matter too much now though you guys are legit and this response to the feedback has made me purchase, keen to give it a go. I'd be keen to see full steam deck support
Please extend melee range, I miss people by millimeters for no reason.
Fry, Congratulations big guy on your first ever game launch! Been watching this and your launch vids, great to see you got this over the finish line. Takes tremendous effort. Add “game dev”, “project manager”, etc. to your resume, that’s no easy feat. Nice work to you and your team, you’ll have gained many skills and learn a lot of things from this.
Nice looking game bigfry im shocked its mixed reviews
Jeeezzzzz ppl nowadays can't appreciate a monolog
just get the data on what people want or critique and the ones that have to most complaints or enjoyment optimize around that area
awesome idea and frame for a game. needs alot of work but the armor looks like it would have way more gadgets and upgrades
I love your honesty and i will try your game.
Do regional pricing, it is more expensive than Cyberpunk in Brazil.
The way I see it everyone is always learning there's a saying in game dev "everyone's first game is shit" so you get the shit done and out of the way. Overall for me it's a 7.5 out of 10 not perfect but I enjoy it for what it is. As always congrats on the successful launch!
Been so busy with Tarkov but just grabbed it Fry, I dont care what others think, I'll give it my own opinion and post a review. Thanks for the extra discount since I already owned Trepang hahaha
Looks pretty neat, I think I'll give it a shot next weekend.
Great stuff. Your project is the perfect example for people to see what current game development is like! You're a devoted gamer, tech savvy, all the drive/inspiration, and etc. Projects take time. Really interesting.
This one really didn't hit the mark for me on the pricepoint you picked even with the release sale. Hoping you learn and improve on your next one.
I bought the game.
I only have one con, and it's the story. It's just not grabbing me.
Other than that, I've personally had no problem. I am currently playing on the hardest difficulty. I think the AI is pretty good. I like how they lean around corners and check their corners. I wouldn't call the AI bad as some other people do, but I do think they could use better animations. The game ran very smoothly for me, and Im playing on a medium gaming laptop at max settings minus global illumination.
Overall, I think it's pretty good, especially for your first game as a studio CEO. Congratulations, by the way. Most people will never achieve that.
I will drop a steam review once I 100% the game, achievement wise.
Picked it up while tarkov was down yesterday, and I couldn't stop playing. You guys did an amazing job. I'm happy to see another cyberpunk game, especially a tactical FPS one.
Sucks when you're on the other side of the spectrum. Game development is hard. But at least you made what you want
I think you also missed the opportunity to provide AI/Enemy varieties. There could've been more harder/bigger/more intimidating enemies such as assault mechas, heavy troopers, mini boss types, drones etc. and so on. Referring to the MGS franchise, they have bunch of unique iconic enemies that no one ever forgets and not just some nameless soldiers. Brother, dont be shy on making your game really difficult to play. Most FPS players are really much more pro than you expected.
I'm not finished playing it,(adult responsibilities) but the few hours I have in it have been fun as hell. Love the game bro.
Im kinda confused, the game is $20 and people are mad the voice acting isnt premium? The negative reviews seemed like folks were just whining about nothing or complaining that it was too hard?
Gotta live up to your promise
I havn't yet purchased the game however I watched someone that did some voice acting play the game on twitch on the hardest difficulty, the game looks really good, something I would like to play the challenge looked good, the voice acting etc. I look forward to trying it for myself 🙂
Haven't tried the game yet, but I definitely plan to. It looks like a 7/10 game. Where a specific audience will be able to overlook its quirks and fall in love with it.
give me a game code please 🙂
Haven't played it myself yet. But everything I have seen makes me think half the reviews are really just not real reviews and more just hating to hate because your name is attached to it. Or they're just going in with insanely high expectations that are unreasonable.
This is an indie dev project that right now costs sub $20. The game play looks decently fun. It's a good length story based FPS title that feels like FEAR and Max Payne. I can't imagine most people wouldn't say this is a worth it throw away title to entertain you for a day or two for only $20.
Keep in mind, going to a movie these days costs more than this lol. This game seems more entertaining than BF6's SP was and costs a quarter of the money. So not sure why people are being overly harsh on it. Going to have to test it out myself soon and get a better understanding but everything I have seen pushes me towards it's fine. Good enough at least. Worth the value of the price tag at least. Which is more than many games that have released in recent years can say.
Im glad the feedback has provided lessons to be learned, I hope you can manage to find a way to smooth out the low burn into without having to change your artistic story driven decisions to hopefully retain new players from here on out. If not props to sticking to your guns and learning from it, im sure reviews will slowly grow in positivity over time for those who are looking for a good story and have the patience for one
your game is good but i cannot able to play besacuse of bugs
The cover art was obviously inspired by Intravenous 2. And funny enough, this being bundled with Intravenous 2 is the only reason I know about this game
Console release when?
