NVIDIA just announced DLSS 5, and it’s a massive shift in how games look. This new footage has been provided by Nvidia and edited by us. This major AI-powered breakthrough redefines visual fidelity in gaming by evolving Deep Learning Super Sampling into a holistic neural reconstruction of digital environments. This latest iteration moves beyond traditional upscaling and frame generation, utilizing advanced AI models to minimize visual artifacts while optimizing complex elements like micro-reflections and texture density. The technology aims to bridge the gap between real-time rendering and cinematic quality, allowing for unprecedented clarity in high-intensity scenes.

Instead of just “stretching” low-resolution images or “faking” extra frames to make things run smoother, DLSS 5 uses generative AI to actually reconstruct the entire scene in real-time. It reconstructs lighting and materials and injects hyper-realistic details that your PC hardware normally couldn’t handle on its own.

Essentially, NVIDIA is calling this the “GPT moment” for graphics. Please note that everything you see in this video is running in two RTX 5090s because the current DLSS 5 is not fully optimized yet. DLSS 5 will be available in RTX 50-series this fall. While official compatibility for older hardware remains unconfirmed, industry experts suggest that while the RTX 40-series will likely receive a version of the tech, the RTX 20 and 30-series might be left out due to the heavy hardware requirements of this new “neural reconstruction” model. For now, NVIDIA appears to be positioning DLSS 5 as the premier reason to upgrade to the next generation of GPUs this fall.
