finally played the game and WOW what an embarassment
like I would be embarassed if I had worked on this game
and believe me I get it, there's no reason for EA to invest money and personnel in it because there's 0 competition and the game sells well enough every year
but WOW
you somehow made defense WORSE than last year – the pokecheck and sticklift are worthless
pucks continue to phase through bodies, sticks and equipment
the same bs goals from impossible angles continue to consistently go in
skating is bafflingly unrealistic with instantaneous changes in direction and no sense of momentum
goalies are braindead as usual
and beyond the gameplay you somehow manage to not fix qol stuff like letting non club members control calling the goalie out, strategies and to remain in the lobby effectively locking players out indefinitely
again, you should feel ashamed as the vg stewards of the great game of hockey

fix poke checks i’ve already had tons of videos of my stick going right thru the puck and staying on the opponents stick. no just pokes but pass interceptions as well where you can see the puck pass thru the stick and just goes straight thru to the opponents stick lol how the hell are you supposed to play defense if it goes thru your stick

EA has ruined video game hockey. Repackaged dung. Nothing like hockey. Just gimmicks that force scripted goals. Instead of fixing the gameplay the just find new market tools to rake in the cash without making the game play better. EA has been a cancer to hockey for a decade and a half now. Need a change.
EA absolutely paid YouTube millions just to remove the downvote button. It's such a shame that today's generation can't live without screens for more than 10 minutes or else these failing businesses banking on consumer incompetence would be in the gutter where their decision makers keep their brains

Is it the same with tackles as last game with the analogstick? Or is it the way it should be with just moving the stick forward?
I hope this years sales and feedback give you a huge wake up call. This game needs a 2-3 year cycle.
Play 22 games on super and get <10 cards? Huh? And not much better overalls than the lower difficulty rewards other than slight increase in number of cards. I do like the format. But, come on yall. If I played 20 squad battle games on 25 I got more cards than that. I mean at least give us 20 players for that grind. Effort still doesn’t match the reward.
I am participating in the NHL26 Boycott and so are all my buddies. EA needs to read the comments and take notes. I’m sick of buying a more glitchy and undeveloped version of the previous year. At least NHL 25 has had some repairs made to it. Why would I want to go backwards.

About Realism, ive watched people go through this stuff now that has the game and this is just all false. Everyone shoots slappers, everyone skates straight into the d on the rush, the ai can only score on 1 move on breakaways, usually they skate into the goaltender, there is so so much thats bad and wrong.
I traded Marner back to the Leafs.
I try 10 hours but where is all those cinematic changes like walk tunnel I haven’t see that there
Very impressed with all the leagues you guys gave up in exhibition mode AHL is my favorite the prospects are nice…but they even play to there tendencies.💯🤙
