Ninja Gaiden 4 Players Are Upset With The Lack Of Unlockable Skins

Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally here, and fans are getting stuck into some of that brutal, fast-paced action that we’ve come to know the series for. It’s also known as a series that is pretty difficult, and as our very own George Foster attested to in his recent review of the title, Ninja Gaiden 4 is another game in the series that will test you to your limits. However, if you’re looking for a reward for beating Ninja Gaiden 4 on its harder difficulties, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

Longtime Ninja Gaiden fans will know that previous games used to incentivize players into actually trying out the harder difficulties with unlockable Costumes, which you could equip to give your character a fresh new look. Unfortunately, Ninja Gaiden 4 has no such thing, and the only additional skins you can unlock for Ryu Hayabusa and newcomer Yakumo have to be purchased with real world cash.

Ninja Gaiden 4 Players Are Upset With The Lack Of Unlockable Skins

Understandably, fans that have been playing Ninja Gaiden 4 since it launched are pretty disappointed with the lack of unlockable Costumes in the game. One such fan is Reddit user Beautiful_Sink_2133, who posts on the Ninja Gaiden subreddit about feeling “so sad” that there are no Costumes to help motivate them to tackle some of the harder difficulties like Master Ninja.

It seems like the opinion is pretty common among Ninja Gaiden fans too. Another user called CrotchRocketx says that the lack of unlockables “ruins the replayability” of the game for them, while another user called Kurosawaninja says that no unlockables means that there’s “no incentive to replay the game on higher difficulty modes,” going so far as to call the move “bad game design.”

Of course, there are a few people that also think this decision was made due to greed rather than an oversight. A user called Tellmeaboutthebow reckons that Ryu’s classic blue outfit that’s always been an unlock in previous games being relegated to a piece of DLC is proof that the post-game unlocks have been deliberately cut out and sold.
