Known to be the flag bearer of the next generation of pirates, Portgas D. Ace was the son of the Pirate King, Roger, and an incredibly powerful individual who had quite a lot of potential. Ace grew up with Luffy and had quite an interesting childhood, which eventually led to him setting sail to the seas in order to make a name for himself and become a successful pirate.

Ace certainly achieved that, and his incredible strength saw to it that he encountered and defeated several powerful opponents. Throughout his pirating journey, Ace made a great name for himself and he acquired incredible infamy by overcoming the many obstacles that he was faced with, which, of course, included many powerful individuals.

7 Porchemy

Defeated By Ace And Sabo As Kids

Porchemy was quite a strong pirate who Ace ended up fighting when he was just a kid. As a member of the Bluejam Pirates, Porchemy was quite intimidating, and at one point, he ended up kidnapping Luffy. After he beat Luffy quite a lot, Ace and Sabo came to his rescue and took Porchemy on in combat.

Together, they were able to defeat him and inflict great humiliation upon him. Despite being very young, Ace was fully capable of defeating him in combat.

6 Bluejam

Defeated By Ace And Dadan

As the captain of the Bluejam Pirates, Bluejam himself was quite a powerful individual in the East Blue long ago. Despite being confident in his abilities, he ended up being defeated by Ace when Grey Terminal was lit on fire by the Nobles of the Goa Kingdom. This fight was fought by Ace with Dadan at his side. Together, they managed to overcome Bluejam.

What’s even more impressive is the fact that Dadan was heavily injured in this fight and would have died. Ace carried her single-handedly and tended to her injuries after, which shows incredible resilience despite having fought a battle with a full-fledged pirate.

5 Billions Fleet

Defeated By Ace Singlehandedly

In the Arabasta Arc of One Piece, Ace debuted officially, and immediately after he did so, fans got to see a proper display from him of what he could do with his Devil Fruit powers. Ace single-handedly took on the billions fleet of the Baroque Works and this entire fleet was destroyed by him with a single Fire Fist.

In doing so, he defeated countless pirates and showcased what the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates was capable of.

4 Van Augur And Burgess

Defeated By Ace On Banaro Island

On the hunt for Blackbeard, Ace eventually reached Banaro Island, which is where he met the Blackbeard Pirates themselves. Of course, Ace ended up taking on Blackbeard in combat, however, before he did so, he was easily able to defeat Blackbeard’s very own underlings. Van Augur and Jesus Burgess wasted no time in trying to attack Ace and he retaliated with powerful techniques of his own, overpowering and defeating them quite easily.

In fact, the difference in strength between them was so massive that Blackbeard warned his crewmates to stay away from him as they were not on his level. Had the fight continued longer, Ace would have absolutely crushed them on the battlefield. Because of Blackbeard, his underlings survived.

3 Vice Admiral Draw

Defeated By Ace On Sabaody Archipelago

On the island of Sabaody, Ace ended up encountering a Vice Admiral of the Navy. This was when Ace was moving from Paradise to the New World while on his pirate journey. Vice Admiral Draw was quite powerful, and also a skilled user of Haki, which is something that every marine with a rank of Vice Admiral or higher possesses.

He was able to overpower Ace with his Haki, however, Ace’s talent was such that he awakened the power to use Haki in this fight as well. Using his powerful Armament Haki, combined with the power of his Devil Fruit, Ace was able to absolutely crush Vice Admiral Draw.

2 Doma

Defeated By Ace In The New World

The Bohemian Knight, Doma is known to be a skilled pirate who has made a great name for himself in the New World. As such, this pirate is feared by many individuals and the fact that he was a strong subordinate of Whitebeard himself goes to show the infamy that this pirate possessed.

While Doma appeared to be a loyal underling of Whitebeard, that wasn’t always the case. At one point, Doma likely fought against the Whitebeard Pirates. It was Ace who ended up defeating Doma and his crew all by himself and, because of that, Doma likely ended up joining the Whitebeard Pirates as an ally. When Ace was captured, Doma came with the Whitebeard ally fleet to rescue him.

1 Jinbe

Defeated By Ace In The New World

By far, the strongest individual that Ace managed to defeat in combat was none other than Jinbe, the powerful Fishman. Ace and Jinbe fought a battle that lasted for 5 days. While many believe this battle to be a tie, that is not exactly the case.

It is absolutely true that both of them collapsed, however, Jinbe was the one who collapsed first and Ace shortly after. What’s more, immediately after Ace collapsed, Whitebeard arrived on the island and Ace had to get up again. As Ace fought against Whitebeard, Jinbe was still collapsed on the floor. Meanwhile, Ace helped his crew escape and surrounded the battlefield with fire so that he could take on Whitebeard all by himself. This all but confirms the fact that Ace actually defeated Jinbe in combat.
