Aggro Crab promised Peak will come to consoles, and even though there hasn’t been an official update on how that’s going, you can now pre-order the hit indie game on PS5. The physical version, that is, which will be significantly more expensive, but it gets you two copies of the game.
Peak Is Getting A Physical Release On PS5
The physical PS5 version of Peak was revealed via online store VGP when it opened pre-orders for the game on Wednesday. It seems the storefront may have jumped the gun, as the listing has since been removed. It was up long enough for the world to now know it exists and see what it will include, and it looks like those who opt for a physical copy will be getting quite the deal.
Peak’s physical edition costs $21.09. A bargain in the grand scheme of things considering the current state of video games, but more than twice as much as it costs on Steam. It’s that much more not just because it’s a physical edition, but because it also comes with an array of collectibles and, best of all, two copies of the game.
Buy Peak, Get Peak Free
That’s right, when you buy this particular version of Peak, you’re actually getting the game twice – one copy on the disc and a “buddy code”. Peak is designed to be played with other people. You actually can’t play the game without them. That’s why, if you’re planning to jump in when the game comes to PS5, you’re going to need at least one other person to ascend Peak’s peaks with you.
That’s why Aggro Crab is throwing a second copy of Peak in with the physical PS5 version for free. Although I’ve never seen anything quite like it before, it’s pretty similar to the Hazelight approach. While it isn’t a code that will let them play the games whenever and wherever they like with other people, It Takes Two and Split Fiction are equipped with Hazelight’s Friend Pass. They’re co-op-only games so like the extra code that comes with Peak, the pass ensures you have someone to play with without making that someone buy their own copy of the game.
Peak’s physical release also comes with a real-life version of the in-game passport you need to leave the airport that functions as the game’s lobby. All of that for $21.09 ain’t bad at all. Plus, if you don’t have a buddy to give that buddy code to, or you want to play in a bigger group, Aggro Crab has already confirmed Peak will have crossplay, meaning you can play with whoever you like, no matter where they play Peak.
