Persona 1 remake apparently revealed through leaked trailer

A newly leaked trailer appears to show Atlus’ next Persona remake project. Following Persona 3 Reload and a Persona 4 remake due in early 2027, the publisher now looks to be revisiting the very first entry in the series.

The trailer has begun circulating online ahead of any official announcement and appears to show gameplay from a remake of the original Persona. While Atlus has yet to comment on the footage, the leak includes combat sequences, exploration and a fully realised user interface.

As with any leak, there is no way to immediately verify its authenticity. The footage could be an elaborate fan-made project, although there are several details that make it difficult to dismiss outright. Alongside gameplay footage and completed menu systems, the trailer also appears to contain work-in-progress story segments using what look to be storyboard placeholders rather than final assets.

If legitimate, the remake would continue Atlus’ recent effort to modernise older entries in the series. Persona 3 Reload was followed by plans for a Persona 4 remake, while Persona 6 remains in development for a later release. A remake of the original game would make sense given comments from Atlus producers in recent years expressing interest in revisiting Persona’s earliest entries.

The original Persona launched for the PlayStation in 1996 under the title Revelations: Persona in Western markets. While later games in the series became global hits, the first entry has largely remained locked to older platforms, receiving just one major re-release via the PSP in 2009.

KitGuru Says: If Atlus continues remaking older Persona games, would you rather see Persona 1 or Persona 2 get the next full remake?
