PlayStation Could Reportedly Begin Manufacturing The PS6 In Early 2027

There’s been quite a lot of talk surrounding the PlayStation 6 recently, despite us only having a handful of exclusive games for the PlayStation 5 and absolutely nobody asking for a new console just yet. It’s full steam ahead for Sony though, as rumors swirl regarding the console’s power, when it will launch, and what it will even look like thanks to additional rumors of handheld capabilities.

We haven’t had anything concrete from PlayStation just yet, but we do now have even more claims that the PS6 might be dropping in around two years. Our latest tidbit comes from a YouTuber called Moore’s Law Is Dead, as he claims that he is in possession of a document that says PlayStation is planning to begin production of the PS6 as early as Early 2027.

PS6 Manufacturing To Reportedly Begin In Early 2027

This is said just past the 57-minute mark, if, for some reason, you don’t trust me and need to verify it with your own earholes. There were rumblings about the PS6 potentially launching in 2028 thanks to comments from PS5 wizard Mark Cerny during a recent tech talk, but Moore’s Law Is Dead claims to have “a document” that tells him that manufacturing will start “in the middle to even early 2027.”

For those unaware, the PlayStation 5 started manufacturing at some point in August 2020, and ended up releasing in November that same year. If you love your math, you’ll know that this is a 3-month window between manufacturing and release, and we can naturally assume that the same timeframe would apply for the PS6 too. If manufacturing of the PS6 is set to start in early 2027 like Moore’s Law Is Dead says, we could see the system drop in either the summer or autumn.

It’s not all that surprising, especially since there was a seven-year gap between the PS4 and PS5 too, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed given that it feels like we’ve barely gotten anything out of this generation of consoles besides a single good exclusive every year. Maybe PlayStation will release a decent handheld component this time around to give the PS6 an actual reason to exist, but I remain pretty skeptical.
