Officially, Pokémon has only announced four regional championships: Milkwaukee, Las Vegas, Toronto and Seattle, as well as the North American International Championships (NAIC) in New Orleans, and the World Championships in San Francisco.
However, Pokémon’s official Twitch channel has seemingly leaked two more regional championships in the region. As pointed out by prominent VGC player Chuppa Cross IV, dates for Orlando (April 4–5) and Indianapolis (May 30–31) were included in the channel’s schedule, despite no official announcement from Pokémon. These schedules have since been removed.
Long Season Ahead
If these leaks are correct, that would mean we have the locations for six of eight of this season’s North American regional championships. Players have speculated that the final two events could take place in Los Angeles and San Antonio, with one in early March and one in early May.
If the date for Indianapolis is correct, then the event will take place just two weeks before NAIC on June 12. This isn’t necessarily out of character for the circuit, since last year’s Los Angeles Regional took place just nineteen days before NAIC.
The Orlando Regional Championship is set to take place on the weekend of Easter, which is still widely celebrated in North America. It’s not considered a federal holiday, however.
North America has only held one regional for the current season thus far, with September’s Pittsburgh Regional Championship having been won by the aforementioned Chuppa Cross IV.
It’s an interesting time in VGC, because of the recycling of regulations for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Regional Championships are currently being played under Reg. H, a reg that was previously played earlier in the 2025 season. However, online ranked battles are using the new Reg. J, which is essentially Reg. I but with mythical Pokémon allowed.
Regulations determine which Pokémon players can use, and how many “restricted” (powerful) Pokémon can be included in any given team. The meta varies greatly from regulation to regulation.
There’s also the impending release of Pokémon Champions, which will be the new home of VGC going forward. We know the World Championships will be played on Pokémon Champions, but the exact release date of the game has not yet been announced.
The Milwaukee Regional Championship is the next event on the North American calendar, and it begins on October 10.
