Niantic has announced a compensation for Trainers who were not able to obtain Special Backgrounds from Raids that took place during the second day of Pokémon GO Tour Unova: Global.
During the affected period of time, Raids were rewarding Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem with regular in-game background, rather than the special Black and White themed background. This affects primarily Trainers in early timezones, like New Zealand, Japan and Australia. Alas, if you are affected congratulations!
We are unable to verify which exact background is rewarded, but we assume these ones are in the mix:
Dear Trainers,
We are aware of an issue in which Trainers could not obtain Special Backgrounds from Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem raids after 11:59 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 2. We apologize for the technical issue which caused this problem.
As an affected Trainer, you will receive Timed Research that awards encounters with guaranteed Special Backgrounds. The number of encounters will be equal to the amount of raids you completed during the impacted timeframe that would have awarded Special Backgrounds (rounded up).
These Timed Research opportunities will appear in the next few days and can be completed at any point until December 31, 2025.
Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your continued passion for Pokémon GO!
