Two weeks before the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the Mega Evolution form of Feraligatr has been leaked on social media. In response to the leak, fans stated that the leaked form of Mega Feraligatr in Pokemon Legends: Z-A was consistent with past descriptions that revealed its potential appearance and type.
Known as the Big Jaw Pokemon, Feraligatr first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. As the fully-evolved form of Totodile and Croconaw, Feraligatr is a Water-type Pokemon known for its balanced statistics, with a slight lean toward physical attack and defense. In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Feraligatr joins Meganium and Emboar as fully-evolved starters players can pick from in their adventures across Lumiose City. Previous Pokemon Legends: Z-A leaks indicated that the upcoming title would have at least 26 new Mega Evolutions in the base game, and Mega Feraligatr was among those mentioned.
Mega Feraligatr Leaked Ahead of Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Launch
With copies of Pokemon Legends: Z-A now out in the wild ahead of its October 16 launch, new information about the game has surfaced on social media. Twitter user Centro posted a picture of Mega Feraligatr as part of the ongoing leaks of information for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Mega Feraligator’s photo was taken from behind, although one clear difference in its appearance is its larger jaw positioned above its head. This red-colored jaw is stated to cover its face like a hood, and pairs with a large lower jaw that covers Feraligatr’s neck. Mega Feraligatr is said to be a Water and Dragon dual-type Pokemon, having gained the latter Dragon type once it Mega Evolves. However, Mega Feraligatr’s moves and statistics remain unrevealed as of this writing.
In response to Centro’s post, Pokemon trainers stated that Mega Feraligatr’s appearance is consistent with a previously leaked description of each new Mega Evolution form in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Mega Feraligatr’s Water and Dragon dual-typing matches other creatures like Kingdra and Palkia. Although the Dragon-type takes away the Water-type’s weakness to Electric attacks, Mega Feraligatr would instead be vulnerable to Fairy and Dragon Pokemon. Given that Fairy-type Pokemon like Florges and Sylveon are prominent in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Kalos region overall, Mega Feraligatr could be at a disadvantage in certain situations.
However, Feraligatr is unlikely to be completely defenseless against Fairy-type Pokemon, as it could utilize moves like Metal Claw in previous Pokemon titles to counter them. It remains to be seen how Mega Feraligatr’s type and appearance will be considered once Pokemon Legends: Z-A players start forming their battle plans and figuring out what works for them.
