Terminator skins are now once again available in Fortnite, having reappeared in the Item Shop on August 17, alongside a variety of other themed offerings based on the iconic franchise. The outfits themselves have been missing from Fortnite for over two years.
The Fortnite Item Shop is an ever-shifting platform, with expiration and novelty central to its core design. Many of its offerings—particularly those based on third-party IP—may never return following their initial run, while others take years to resurface, doing so at often unpredictable times.
Future War Terminator Skins Return to Fortnite Item Shop
Continuing this trend, the Terminator cosmetics have returned to Fortnite as part of the Item Shop’s daily rotation this Sunday, August 17. The surprise re-release appears to include all of the in-game items based on James Cameron’s franchise, going back to Fortnite‘s T-800 and Sarah Connor Epic Outfits originally launched back in January 2021, during Chapter 2 Season 5. Individually, the T-800 can be purchased for 1,500 V-Bucks, whereas Sarah Connor retails for 1,800. More attractively, the old Future War Bundle has also returned to Fortnite as part of this shop rotation, offering access to both skins, the Cyberdyne Salute Emote, and several other items for 2,800 V-Bucks.
The classic Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator skin that Fortnite first added in 2023 has returned as well, priced at 1,500 V-Bucks. A more comprehensive Terminator Bundle can be had for 2,300 V-Bucks, offering not just the Epic Outfit but also the Skynet Llama backpack, Tow Truck Surfer emote, Mimetic Poly-Alloy Blades pickaxe, and HK-Aerial glider. While the Sarah Connor and T-800 outfits were missing from the game for over two years, this newer counterpart returned to the battle royale game thrice following its summer 2023 debut: once during the 2023 holiday season, and twice in the first half of 2024.
Though the Item Shop occasionally revives older cosmetics, extended absences—such as the 740-day gap between the two most recent Future War Bundle appearances—remain uncommon. That may soon change, however; in August 2024, Epic loosened the exclusivity of Fortnite battle pass items, stating they may return for general sale 18 or more months after their initial debut. While fans had long requested this change, Epic did not apply it retroactively, stating it would only affect future battle pass content. There’s six more months to go until the first battle pass items become eligible to return under the new rules.
The re-released Terminator cosmetics, including the Terminator and Future War bundles, will be part of the Item Shop’s selection for five days. They are set to leave Fortnite‘s storefront on August 21, at 4:59pm PT / 7:59pm ET / 1:59am CET (Aug 22).
