Post-Apocalyptic Point and Click Adventure Rauniot Launches in April

Developer and publisher Act Normal Games has announced a release date for the long-awaited Finnish post-apocalyptic adventure game Rauniot.

The game, which was announced all the way back in 2019 (yes, it really has been that long), will arrive on PC via Steam on April 17th, the studio has revealed.

Taking place in Northern Finland, Rauniot has you exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland in which “riots, massive conflicts, and wars have decimated the planet” after a natural disaster pushes civilization over the edge.

Rauniot will offer an evocative post-apocalyptic Finland to explore.

As a press release rather bluntly sets out, this is a bleak game; children “are born mutated or dead” in Rauniot‘s world, while others are “driven to cannibalism as food resources slowly run out”. It’s safe to say you probably won’t want to play this one if you’re looking for some cheerful escapism.

As protagonist Aino, you’ll have to navigate this bleak world, solving puzzles and talking to other survivors in order to attempt to make a life for yourself.

Act Normal Games says that some puzzles “can be solved in different ways and in [a] different order”, and that the “classic” puzzles will “vary in difficulty” as well. Rauniot won’t just be a straightforward walking sim, it seems.

You can check out the release date announcement trailer for this promising-looking point-and-click adventure game right here.

As well as everything outlined above, Rauniot will also offer “over 70 beautifully detailed scenes” and a set of “authentic Finnish voiceovers” to help you immerse yourself in its world.

There’s no word about other platforms yet, so if you’re hoping to check out this despair-fueled adventure on a platform other than Steam, you may have to wait a little longer.

Rauniot lands on PC via Steam on April 17th. You can wishlist the game here ahead of its launch.
