PS5 emulator can now run Demon’s Souls at 120FPS

This year has been pretty huge for bringing old console exclusives to PC for the first time. On top of that, huge strides have been made in PS5 emulation. While Insomniac’s Wolverine merely boots in a PS5 emulator, the Demon’s Souls remake is completely playable, and you can even get it to hit 120FPS on an RTX 5070.

As spotted by PCGamer, Geralt Benchmarks has shared a new video showing the Demon’s Souls remake in action, running on a PS5 emulator, with a PC powered by an RTX 5070 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. Running at 1440p, the game is able to achieve 120FPS, albeit with 2x DLSS Frame Gen injected in.

On the PS5 console itself, Demon’s Souls is locked to 60FPS, so being able to double that is an impressive feat. If the game is left at its standard PS5 settings while in the emulator, it typically runs around 70FPS, still higher than a PS5, without Frame Gen.

PS5 emulation has continued to evolve in recent months, with development partly spurred on by Sony’s recent announcement to end support for physical game discs, on top of the company’s habit of shutting down access to the digital stores of its older consoles – something that just recently happened to PS3 and PS Vita, locking many owners out of their digital purchases for good.
