Resident Evil Leaker Says Code Veronica Remake Is Being Treated As A Big-Budget “Mainline Game”

A reliable Resident Evil leaker has claimed that the rumoured Code Veronica remake is being treated as a “big budget mainline game” by Capcom, similarly to Resi 4.

Even though Resident Evil Requiem has got the attention of every Resident Evil fan right now, that hasn’t stopped us all from wondering what Capcom could be doing with the series in the future. For a while now, the studio has balanced new mainline entries with remakes of some of the series’ best games, including Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4.

While Capcom has remained quiet about which Resident Evil game is going to be getting the remake treatment next, a reliable Resident Evil leaker has been reporting for some time now that Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are currently being remade at Capcom. As it turns out, one of those projects might be a lot bigger than we thought.

Code Veronica Is Reportedly On The Same Level As Resi 2 And Resi 4

It’s Even Got Most Of The Same Team Working On It

Seeing as how Code Veronica and 0 are both considered to be side games (despite being important to the Resident Evil timeline), it was fair to assume that they wouldn’t be getting massive games. That might not be the case for Code Veronica, though, as reliable Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer has claimed it’s quite the opposite.

Over on Twitter, AestheticGamer has been answering a lot of questions about Resident Evil lately. While most of the reveals have been to do with Requiem, AestheticGamer recently replied to a comment hoping that Capcom gives Code Veronica a “worthy remake”, which caused the leaker to share a surprising detail about how Capcom views it.

AestheticGamer replied saying that they’ve heard multiple times that Code Veronica is being handled by the same people as the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes. Not only that, but it’s also being treated by Capcom as a “big budget mainline” game in every way, suggesting that it’s much more than a simple upgrade.

AestheticGamer didn’t confirm whether that’s also the case for Resident Evil 0’s remake, but he’s mentioned them in the same breath enough times for it to be likely.

For now, we don’t really know what that means in terms of what content has been added to Code Veronica, but it sounds like the remake will be in line with the other Resident Evil remakes. Now we just have to wait for Capcom to fully unveil them so we can stop wondering whether they even exist.
