Rockstar’s Devs Were Apparently Told About People’s Real Life Crimes When They Revealed They Were Researching For GTA 6

Rockstar might already know about every jaywalker in Miami-Dade by name.

Jason Schreier has revealed a surprising, and somewhat shocking, divulgence about GTA 6’s development.

Jason revealed in his big Bloomberg feature for the game that Rockstar started researching for the game by taking trips to Miami as early as 2015. He has since shared even more stories that he just didn’t have room for in that feature.

In his latest YouTube, Jason revealed that Rockstar was doing so much research in Miami that they almost opened an office in the city. They had some people working in Miami full time.

But the most fascinating story came from Rockstar’s senior vice president of technology, Jonathon Ashcroft. Jon said:

As soon as they know where you’re from, they just want to tell you every crime they or their friends have ever done.

As Jason verbalized it, you can just imagine the shock these developers had when their fans told them about the gang wars they got into or the places they robbed at gunpoint.

We’re going to assume these people wouldn’t have told them anything that they didn’t already get convicted for, but one wonders if GTA 6 is a little too real as a result.
