A playable demo for adventure brawler Scott Pilgrim EX is now available.
Currently only available on Steam, you’ll be able to take a virtual mid-winter trip to Toronto and sample the brand-new storyline co-written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and the team at Tribute Games, as well as all-new music from Scott Pilgrim alumni, Anamanaguchi.
It’s unclear if progress carries over, but I have reached out to Tribute for confirmation.
“Jump into Scott Pilgrim’s wonderfully weird version of Toronto and play through the first two quests of Scott Pilgrim EX either solo or with friends,” Tribute Games teases. “Play as iconic heroes and exes from throughout the Scott Pilgrim franchise – with the demo sporting Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Lucas Lee, and Roxy Richter from the full game’s seven character playable roster – as you bash the robots, demons and vegans that stand in your way. Each character has their own feel and moveset, so don’t limit yourself to just one playthrough.”
Scott Pilgrim EX isn’t a direct sequel to previous Scott Pilgrim stories, or at least that’s what creator Bryan Lee O’Malley said last year when asked by confused fans. The new adventure starts when the members of the Sex Bob-omb band are kidnapped “as the city (of Toronto) is terrorized by demons, vegans, and robots”. Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, plus five allies, lead the effort to save the musicians and the city.
Scott Pilgrim EX will initially release as a digital-only game on 3rd March for Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), PS4/5, and Xbox Series X/S.
