Check out this new work in progress gameplay demo from the upcoming Screamer developed in Unreal Engine 5. The gameplay footage has been provided by Milestone and edited by us after playing at Gamescom 2025. This reimagining of the classic 1995 racing game promises a unique blend of vehicular combat, fighting mechanics, and a rich narrative driven by themes of human will, revenge, love, and greed. The game features single player, multiplayer, split screen and it will remind you of Need for Speed and Burnout!
High-octane action and anime aesthetics collide in this arcade racing game, featuring fighting mechanics and a storyline that hits hard. In this world, some race for glory while others seek power or revenge. Every race is a fight and every battle is personal.
First impressions:
Milestone’s Screamer is shaping up to be a chaotic and stylish arcade racer that plays more like a fighting game than a traditional racing title. The game’s anime-inspired art direction and focus on a twin-stick control scheme for driving and drifting promise a unique, high-octane experience. The “Echo” system, which allows players to use boosts, strikes, and an overdrive ability, is the core mechanic that elevates the game beyond a standard racing title. This system encourages players to battle their way to victory, using their vehicles as weapons to defeat their opponents, much like in a fighting game.
Features we liked the most: the dystopian neon-lit world, the cast of bold aggressive characters and hints of a really strong narrative foundation. This could give players a compelling reason to push through the tournament’s brutal challenges and deep, story-driven events. The game has the potential to be a standout title that blends the thrill of racing with the strategic aggression of a fighting game. Let’s see if it lives up to the promise when it comes out in 2026!

Mobile game?
Arcade racers<3
More arcade than Mario Kart
I hope this the tracks aren't all four lane highways with zero hard turns or unique paths
Its been a long time we didnt have arcade game like this.
Mobile Gameplay, im out.
These car designs are insane wtf, definitely looks interesting
It's like it's trying to have Burnout's physics, but it's FORCING you to drift by how the weight is shifted. That or the camera response is too sharp lol.
Support bigger budget arcade racers, we need them!
This looks like a mobile game ngl
The effect when hitting wall or opponent looks too weak. But it's still in pre-alpha, so it's fine. I look forward improvements in the future.
😍😍
Needs to be like Burnout, NFS just inferior in regards to combat.
arcade is dead ? or the remaining /
isn't it more like Burnout?
SRS/Kinetica/NFS type sht
Wow, a racer thats trying something new, thats really rare these past few years. Imma actually buy this full price, because we need more of these
Welcome back Ridge Racer
> Vehicular combat
> Looks inside
> A pale shadow compared to Burnout Paradise, a PS3 game.
how need for speed unbound was probably aiming for
The visuals, the sound, the mechanics… This game looks very promising!!
This feels like gentrified dogtown racing lol
Dont get me wrong I like what I see but the driving¿? I need to try it before of course, but seeing how is the drift… feeling like the car wants to go the oposite side where you are turning¿? and hiting the wall¿? its weird, maybe playing feels better but Im not hooked by what I see in how the driving will feel.
Other arcade drivers when drifting the curve you just stick to the curve and keep turning the car or making small adjustements, here feels like you drift left and the car goes to the right wall
i think a this game with physics of deformation style burnout or motorstorm will win more fun is the only detail a missing pls add this 🙏❤
Unreal engine and kernel level anti cheat?
This is gonna lag for mid range computers, huh?
Tbf putting the hate comments aside, this lowkey looks like such a vibe to play! Great side game to boot up after playing some Wuthering Waves, Crew Motorfest or my Robocop Rogue City game I just started. Looking forward to more details of this game!!!
Wow, soundtrack is so groovy and visually it looks amazing I really love the greyscale desert looking level personally, couple of things I will say though (and this isn’t hate i think the game looks great it just needs some tweaking) are the sense of speed feels way too slow, the speedometer says over 200kph but it looks more like 100 (3:40) making it feel like forza while it should feel more like need for speed with the crazy motion blur and debris flying past the screen, another is the impacts between cars look really lack luster I can’t feel the impact looks like your just brushing the cars off, lastly now I’ve not played it but the drifting looks like it’s going to be one of those annoying systems where in tighter corners it becomes super understeery and hard to control, other than that the art style and car design are absolutely fantastic I just feel for an arcade racer it doesn’t look fast and crazy enough, not many arcade racers anymore so really don’t want this to flop…
