Should You Steal The Totem Staff Or Kill The Shaman In Oblivion Remastered?

There are a lot of interesting and complex quests in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered that are not limited to the ones for the main story or factions. Some of these side quests can give you some great rewards, while others give you a lot of gold. The latter one is always welcome in any playthrough.

Here is how you can complete To help a Hero quest in Oblivion Remastered.

One of the more complex quests is the Goblin Trouble quest, which uses a mechanic in the game that not a lot of players know about. Of course, it involves goblins, but it also involves warring tribes and a capture-the-flag type of system for the goblins involved.

How To Start The Goblin Trouble Quest

To start the Goblin Trouble quest, you’ll first need to go to Crestbridge Camp and talk to Barthel Gernand, the head of the people in the camp. Talk to him about the goblins, and he will ask you for help.

He’ll then tell you to talk to Mirisa about the goblins and the goblin war. She’s located in the same camp and can give you more information.

To get to Crestbridge Camp, you’ll need to head northeast of Bravil or southeast of the Imperial City. It can be found on the ‘d’ in ‘The Yellow Road’ on the map, next to a bridge. There you’ll find a couple of tents around a campfire and people either walking around or sleeping.

When you talk to Mirisa about the goblins, she’ll tell you about the two goblin tribes fighting over the land around Cropsford. The Rock Biter goblins stole the Totem Staff from the Bloody Hand goblins, and a war between the tribes has started. Your goal is to stop the goblin war between the tribes.

There are two ways that you can handle this quest: one is to steal the Totem Staff the goblins have been fighting over, or kill the Shaman of the Bloody Hand goblins.

For stealthy characters or ones that have access to Invisibility or Chameleon potions/spells, you can simply steal the Totem Staff to stop the goblin war. To do this, you’ll need to head to Timberscar Hollow, a cave which can be found west of Crestbridge Camp.

When you enter the Cave, you’ll need to go to the very back and take the Totem Staff. It’ll be marked on your compass.

There is a chance that a Bloody Hand Goblin War Chief is there to try and take the staff. If that happens, you’ll need to kill the war chief and get the staff from its body.

Stealing the staff will update the quest and tell you to go back to Crestbridge Camp to tell them that you’ve stolen the staff.

How To Kill The Bloody Hand Goblin Shaman

For those who don’t want to sneak around and just want to get it over with, you can try to slay the Bloody Hand Goblin Shaman. To do this, you’ll need to head over to Cracked Wood Cave, which is to the northwest of Crestbridge Camp near where the road forks in the middle to Cropsford.

Head inside the cave, and you can fight the goblins inside. Your main goal is to kill the Bloody Hand Goblin Shaman, which is at the very back of the cave. The Shaman will be guarded by goblins and will have a staff that can shoot out magic, so keep that in mind when fighting them.

Once you’ve killed the shaman, the quest will update and tell you to go back to Crestbridge Camp to report on your progress.

How To Get The Goblin Trouble Quest Reward

Once you’ve either stolen the Totem Staff or killed the Shaman, go back to Crestbridge Camp and talk to Barthel Gernand. Talk to him about the Goblin War, and he’ll thank you for your help. You won’t get a reward immediately, but he does tell you to go back in a few weeks to Cropsford.

The town will be slowly built up in a couple of weeks, and you can even see the progress they’ve made after each week. Once the town of Cropsford has been built up, you can go inside Bincals’ House. On the second floor, you’ll find a Reward Chest.

The Reward Chest will spawn gold every week, and the amount depends on your level. Make sure to visit this town from time to time to claim your reward for some easy money.
