Silent Hill F Will Be Great For Newcomers To The Franchise

Konami reaffirms this will be a standalone installment.

There’s a lot of love for Silent Hill, even if the franchise might have laid dormant for a long time. For some fans, it was believed the franchise was dead, and the attempts from developers outside of the original Team Silent were bringing out lackluster experiences. That’s not to say every game past Silent Hill 4 was duds. However, that reception started to shift a little, and more interest is coming to the series again. One of the games you can get excited about is Silent Hill F.

Silent Hill F is the next mainline entry, but we’re still left waiting to discover when we’ll get our hands on the game. Unfortunately, the launch date has been elusive right now. However, that might change soon as Konami as we know that during the Anime Expo 2025 in July of this year, we’ll get our next look at the game. A panel will be featured, including those involved with the game, such as series composer Akira Yamaoka and producer Motoi Okamoto.

If Silent Hill F looked intriguing, but you don’t know where to start with the franchise, then you’re in luck. Fans of the series know that very few installments are attached to each other. The numbers don’t help with the titles, but you can even play Silent Hill 2 without playing the original game, as it’s a standalone story.

Konami has posted on X through their Japanese Silent Hill account that Silent Hill F is an independent installment. So whether you’ve played the past games or not, you can enjoy this game. That hopefully answers your question on whether this installment is the right one to pick up.

Of course, while we wait for the Anime Expo panel that will hopefully reveal a little more about Silent Hill F, you’ll find that there might be some movement for Silent Hill 2 again. Bloober Team could have a Born From A Wish DLC in the works as fans speculate over a recent Steam update.
