Hollow Knight: Silksong provides you an almost overwhelming amount of weaponry and tools for you to experiment with, letting you craft the exact build you want to help you get through Pharloom and the Citadel. While there aren’t any right or wrong answers for what you should use, there are when it comes to raw damage, but with how Silksong is, it can be difficult to determine exactly which tools and skills do the most damage.
Thankfully, the Silksong community has a few number crunchers. For example, a YouTuber called Visic recently did some maths to calculate exactly which Crest you should use for the most damage per second (it’s the best one by the way), while today’s YouTuber of discussion is Rusty, who painstakingly figured out exactly which Silk Skill has the highest damage output. The answer probably won’t shock you.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Fan Uses Math To Determine Best Silk Skill
In his video, Rusty equips himself with the Shaman Crest and the Volt Filament tool as a base to test each Silk Skill’s damage, as these two are often paired with each other due to how effective they make your skills. Rusty quickly outlines that Sharpdart and Cross-Stitch are your worst Silk Skills, thanks to how generally useless they are in terms of both damage and utility.
Pail Nails takes the fourth spot, while Rune Rage and Silkspear take bronze and silver respectively, before Rusty then reveals what we all truly know deep down. Yes, it seems as though Thread Storm is the best Silk Skill in the game, and it doesn’t even appear to be close, as the skill vastly outdamages all other skills.
Rusty then goes on to show off all the damage numbers of each Silk Skill next to each other, showcasing just how much of an outlier Thread Storm is. At it’s most boosted, Thread Storm reaches a maximum damage potential of 227, with Rune Rage coming at a distant second with just 131. It’s the kind of thing that speedrunners dream of, and Rusty even reveals that speedrunners are using the combo due to just how powerful it is.
Rusty goes deeper into the numbers in the full video, which I highly recommend checking out, especially if you want to know why your favorite Silk Skill isn’t ranked as highly. However, whatever your argument is, it will be null and void due to Thread Storm’s sheer damage output, and if this little thing ends up trivializing the game, we could see Team Cherry do some tweaks in the near future.
