SnowRunner doesn’t explain how trailers actually work — and that’s why so many deliveries turn into a struggle.
In this first episode of SnowRunner Academy, we break down trailer mechanics in a way the game never does. From hitch vs semi-trailers to weight distribution, traction, axle count, saddle height, stability, and even the packed vs unpacked cargo mechanic — this lesson explains why some trailer setups feel effortless while others feel impossible.
Using side-by-side tests and real in-game examples, you’ll learn:
Why semi-trailers often pull better than lighter hitched trailers
How weight distribution affects traction on your drive wheels
Why axle count and trailer clearance matter more than raw weight
How saddle height changes ground clearance and hill-cresting
When unpacking cargo helps — and when it makes things worse
Which trailers to avoid and why
Which trucks can’t tow trailers at all
This series is designed to teach the mechanics SnowRunner never explains, one system at a time. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve got hundreds (or thousands) of hours in the game, SnowRunner Academy is about understanding why things work the way they do — not just memorising tips.

Thanks. There is a lot of useful and helpful information in your videos 👍
I bought the avenhorn in the pack last night, its addons are great and i took it on a quest to a map i hadnt explored yet as i started 4 days ago. There was an insane hill and it climbed ut in auto with no problem and i managed to get it and a service trailer over a roadblock lije a small high lifted scout would, its my favorite truck tn and it looks sounds abd feels amazing to use.
I suppose it must be mentioned that the information in this video only applies in-game, not in real life.
I think there's a mechanic you forgot to mention. Cargo's center of mass relative to the ground. A few inches from the wheels plus some more from a raised suspension. The Fleetstar is less tippy if its lower.
Почти всю игру прошел, но тоже интересное в видео для себя нашел. Спасибо автору.
Well you've made me get into snowrunner again with your videos 🥲😬😅
04:03 i hate that trailer so much 😂
800 hours here. Thanks for helping new players to this game this game can be infuriating but its truly worth it.
While the Tatarin can’t properly hook up to any trailers, it has more than enough mass and power to winch hitch trailers behind itself, useful for moving fuel trailers around offroad
Western Star Twin Steer is hard enough to maneuver on its own, I absolutely don't miss it not being able to attach trailers.
Are you contradicting you self with this? Earlier you said that more axels on trailers is more resistance and no help. You proved this with a 4 axel trailer and a 3 axel one, the 3 axel one went faster. Then at the end, you said in trailers to avoid, you avoid the 2 axel one cause the 3 axel one is better????? What am I too dumb to see here?
How do i transport Pacific p16 to new working area? And driving is not an option because it is work machine and illegal to drive public roads and highways.. i didnt find trailer that can handle p16 and hers rear trailer at the same time..
8slot semitrailer is great when you have enough space, Yukon, Wisconsin, Amur, …
Hi TeleMenace, thank you for all the awesome content you’ve been putting out around the game — I’ve been learning a lot from your videos.
This isn’t directly related to your recent content, but since you know the game so well, I wanted to ask: is there any setting, tip, or workaround to reduce or turn off the auto-centering camera? It’s honestly the most frustrating part of the experience for me. If there’s a way to disable it — or even just make it feel less aggressive or jarring — I’d really appreciate any advice you could share.
Thanks again for the great content, and keep up the amazing work! 😊
Also UAZ Ermak can not attach trailers
I would have put box bed if I two cargos that works as well you didn’t test that with trailers
Is the test map that you use for these a public map?
5:15 I went through the pain of getting the awd upgrade for the mh9500 as early on as possible and boy was it worth it it’s a very capable truck despite being the first one you get like I haven’t felt held back by it capabilities except for fuel consumption but I just bring something with more fuel to supplement
I’ve been playing this game for years and did not know that unstrapping it could lower the weight. This would’ve saved me so many headaches thank you so much.
Been playing this since 2021, hundreds of hours but only yesterday discovered that if your in auto and the gearbox sits in a low gear, tap the clutch and it will upshift!!! The amount of hours spent stuck crawling around when I could have been up shifting sooner! And I discovered a few other game mechanics never mentioned.
I love this game so much. It doesn’t hold your hand and bore you with bullshit.
Sir, I made it nearly 90 hours before flipping once… now it happens way too often lmao. Makes me feel like the "get bigger tires for more ground clearance!" tip was a lie.
