Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games revealed and released a new starship in the persistent universe of the space simulator.
The new ship is Anvil F7C Hornet MK II fighter, an overhauled version of the popular F7 Hornet which was actually the first ship ever revealed for the game in the very first trailer all the way back in 2022.
Interestingly, the MK II version will not replace the original fighter, which will remain available in the game for those who prefer it.
The F7C Hornet MK II is actually the civilian (hence the “C”) demilitarized version of the F7A Hornet MK II used by the Navy.

Interestingly, players will be able to earn an upgrade for the F7C to the military F7A Hornet MK II by completing an ongoing event titled Overdrive Initiative now available in the game.
The first part of the event involves joining the civilian defense force Overdrive Initiative and assaulting five bunkers held by the Xenothreat terrorist force. Further chapters of this event will be added in the upcoming weeks.
Those who complete the whole event will have the upgrade delivered to them, alongside a 3-day rental of the F7C.
A second video with the developers included an extensive Q&A on the FPS changes coming in the upcoming alpha 3.23, which is currently tentatively scheduled for April.
Star Citizen is a crowdfunded game currently in ongoing development exclusively for PC. Its fans have pleaded a massive $671,553,276 in funding with 5,113,103 registered users. The number is not representative of paying customers, as many just register an account to try the game out during Free Fly Events. ù
The game doesn’t yet have a release date, but we’re going to get a roadmap to release later this year.
A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in development and we recently heard that it’s now feature-complete. Many speculate that its release date may be revealed at the next CitizenCon in October. We’ll have to wait and see if that happens.
