Star Wars’ Breakout Character Quickly Becomes New Fan-Favorite for Hilarious Reasons

First, The Mandalorian’s Grogu broke the internet, and now another Star Wars character is winning over fans, this time in a video game. Biddy Blas, a crocodile-like character featured in the racing title Star Wars: Galactic Racer, has quickly become a fan favorite.

Ever since the game’s launch this month, Biddy Blas’ popularity has increased on social media. According to Empire, the character has inspired numerous memes thanks to his quirky personality, unintentionally hilarious catchphrases, and distinctive screeching voice.

Biddy Blas belongs to the Crocin alien race and competes in the Galactic League, where he considers himself an exceptional racer. His catchphrases, including “Scrib doon” and “Ding dong pookie, ding dooooong!”, have since become popular among fans.

How Richard Summers-Calvert created Biddy Blas’ unforgettable voice

Voice actor Richard Summers-Calvert is the man behind Biddy Blas, who has emerged as a breakout Star Wars character. The actor and writer recently revealed what drew him to the role. “I decided that this character has little man syndrome,” he told Empire. “Maybe lacking confidence, slightly anxious, and it comes out in rage.”

According to Narrative Designer Ren Alex-Rose, Biddy Blas originally didn’t have the voice tone that has made him a fan favorite. The developers wanted a “deeper fantasy dwarf voice” for him. However, the plan changed after Summers-Calvert auditioned for the role. “And then when we heard Richard’s audition, we were like, ‘No, that’s it. That’s absolutely it. That is the perfect direction for this character.’”

While the actor wasn’t aware of Star Wars lore, he decided to use a high pitch for Biddy Blas after knowing that it was a small-sized character. “His energy needs to be three times the size of him.”

Driven in part by Biddy’s viral popularity, Star Wars: Galactic Racer has earned critical acclaim since launching earlier this month, boasting a Top Critic Average score of 87 out of 100 on OpenCritic.
