Bungie recently revealed its next year of content for Destiny 2, dubbing it the Year of Prophecy. This includes core game updates, major seasonal updates, and two new expansions, one of which is inspired by the beloved sci-fi franchise Star Wars.
Destiny 2 The Fate Saga begins this summer
Destiny 2’s Year of Prophecy begins with the Rite of the Nine event, which is already underway. Bringing new twists to the Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep dungeons, the event is a prologue for The Edge of Fate, the first of two premium expansions coming this year, on July 15.
“When The Edge of Fate releases on July 15, players will be reintroduced to the Nine, powerful and mysterious beings who existed long before the Traveler, and face a new threat that predates everything Guardians know about Sol,” reads the statement. “Two major characters will step into the spotlight: Lodi, a new ally from a distant place, and the legendary Warlock Vanguard Ikora.”
The Edge of Fate will introduce players to the new destination Kepler and new enemies, weapons, gear, and destination-specific abilities.
The second expansion for Destiny 2 this year is Renegades. Currently slated to launch on December 2, it features an original story inspired by Star Wars. The trailer, which can be seen above, seems to feature weapons and gear that will make fans of the iconic franchise happy.
“With each of our Fate Saga Expansions, we’re looking to break from our past formulas and deliver something truly unique, and Renegades is no exception,” said Justin Truman, Destiny Vice President. “It’s a Destiny story at heart, but with a Star Wars-inspired take that’s been a dream for us to explore.”
