It looks as though a Starfield PS5 release date has been leaked, and if the leak is correct, then Bethesda’s open-world space RPG is heading for Sony’s console in just a few weeks.
This report comes from Dealabs’ bilibil-kun, who’s previously leaked the existence of the PS5 Pro, as well as several past PlayStation Plus lineups and much more. In general, bilibil-kun is a pretty reliable leaker, so this Starfield PS5 release date is probably accurate.
Additionally, bilibil-kun says that Starfield preorders on PS5 are likely to open somewhere around March 17th or March 18th, so that’s probably also when the official announcement will happen, assuming that this leak doesn’t bump Bethesda’s plans up in the calendar.
Unfortunately, if you’ve already played Starfield and you were hoping for some sweeping changes before checking out the game again, that’s probably not going to happen.
Back in February, Bethesda’s Todd Howard told Kinda Funny (via Kotaku) that the next major Starfield update is “not Starfield 2.0″ and that it’s unlikely to change the minds of those who “bounced off it, or found it boring in places”. Thanks for the heads up, Todd.
It’s not clear whether Starfield‘s PS5 release will include its Shattered Space expansion, but bilibil-kun says that two editions of the game, a Standard Edition and a Premium Edition, will be available, so it’s possible the DLC will be included with the latter.
We do, however, know that Starfield will be getting a physical release on PS5 (again, assuming this leak is accurate), so you’ll probably want to make some shelf space for it if you’re intending to pick it up.
For the time being, you can grab Starfield on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and it’s also available as part of certain Game Pass subscription tiers. Make sure to read our Erren’s review of the game from back at launch to find out what she thought of it!
