The retail chain Target recently announced that customers will be able to order the Nintendo Switch 2 on the Target website and app one day after the console’s June 5 launch date. This will be another option for fans who aren’t able to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 at a physical retail location.
Even though pre-orders for the console have been open for over a month, it has been notoriously difficult for customers to get their hands on a Switch 2. When the system was initially listed for pre-order on April 24, the websites of major retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart struggled to keep up with the massive wave of demand. There were reports of crashes, glitches, and endless loading screens that prevented many fans from securing a pre-order.

Nintendo Switch App Update Adds Highly Requested Feature
Ahead of the launch of the Switch 2 on June 5, the Nintendo Switch App is getting a major update, adding some intuitive features.
In a recent blog post, Target revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will be available to order digitally through the Target app or Target.com store starting on June 6. Customers will be limited to one system each, however, and these offerings will only be available while supplies last.
Target Offers Special Deals to Celebrate Switch 2 Launch
Target also intends to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the new console by creating a designated Nintendo section in the electronics department of its stores. In addition to accessories like the GameChat camera, it will offer exclusive merchandise and special giveaways to celebrate the Switch 2’s release. The blog post announced that there will be discounts on select Nintendo-related products throughout the June 5-7 launch weekend, both in-store and online.
Given the hassle of pre-ordering a Switch 2 and the recent news that some Switch 2 pre-orders have been canceled less than a week before the system’s release, ordering one from Target post-launch is an attractive option. Demand will surely be high, though, so prospective customers should still be diligent in checking the website early and often.
The Switch 2’s day one lineup of games is spearheaded by Mario Kart World, which will be bundled with some systems in a package that’s $50 more expensive than the base model. The console will also launch with some graphically intensive titles that never made their way to the original Switch, such as Split Fiction, Street Fighter 6, and Cyberpunk 2077. June 5 will see the release of several hardware accessories as well; fans will be able to purchase an additional set of Joy-Cons for $94.99 and a Switch 2 Pro Controller for $84.99.
