Phyre in general seems to be an autarkis, ie. independent.
This game is WOKE garbage, written by those are not even fans of the original. Sadly it is all we have for no telling how many years.
I'm one of the people who do not cringe much about name Phyre.
Yeah, corny as fuck, but whatever. We have Blade, Blood Rayne and other corny names in other vampire universes and franchises and nobody gives a fuck, so whatever.
But man, I'm enjoying it so much how Onda admitting how much stupid that name is and she's so pissed off about the whole situation

That jewelry is called "Angel bites". Their two piercings that go through the top of your lips and come out at the bottom, under the lips. You can get studs that make them look like fangs. It's a real thing. got them myself lol.
First playthrough? Brujah. all the way. Gonna be a throw some hands and move supa fast! second playthrough? Lasombra. Be the boogeyman of the bloodlines. Not to mention it's one of the clans were it seems your commonly recognized as an elder which obviously makes sense for Lasombra, but even with another npc also being lasombra, WE the player are still considered the Elder. That's gonna be a dope, fun time to see how we can utilize that rep. if we can. Overall? let's be honest. Every fan of this series is gonna make a character for every clan and play the hell out of this. so damn excited! almost release time!
I may do my first playthrough as Lasombra unless the Toreador trailer feature something better than the Priest outfit.

Honestly I think some of your concerns would be answered if you just… watched the trailer from start to finish without trying to react to every single thing (for example shadow step). Yeah, the one point they show at the read out wasn't a good example perhaps, but earlier on there was a demonstration that pretty clearly showed it.
As a budding Lasombra, I am… sort of ambivalent… about the demonstration. To me, it sort of misses out on the stuff that makes Lasombra cool in favour of essentially just making you better assassins than Banu Haqim). Not that is a bad thing, I just feel like it's a missed opportunity. For one, I am disappointed that Arms of Ahriman are just a bind mechanism. I think that's kinda… disappointing that it isn't an attacking one. I also think it's a shame there's no Necrotic Plague too. I am definitely disappointed there is no Tenebrous Avatar or no ability to essentially become a plane of shadow (or even a Black metamorphisis) build. Isolating someone in shadow though is pretty badass I suppose, but to me it sorta plays contrary to other parts of the Lasombra kit. It essentially just makes it so you punch some fool up with no adds on you, but you still can't, I dunno, tear them apart with the Arms of Ahriman like say one's snake appendages in kill animations in something like the old (awesome) The Darkness games.

This looks nice, friend of my will love it as he usually plays a Lasombra in TTRPG but for me my favorite is still the Tzimisce and those are not n the game so skip for me.
They did show how Shadow Step is used in the game, it's basically a teleport behind the target thing. Like some Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru. Here's another look on how it works 3:15.

She had to do Cain nos what to get into the camarill and achieve the position she had..we got it by just waking up the lasombra don't like losing the really don't. 5:54 oblivion is the shadow realm that supposedly the funder of the clan ended up after he was diablerized by hes own child. 6:52 the priest outfit is actually appropriate because the lasombra have a strong connection with the catholic church if you looked at unda she also has a cross hanging around her neck.
Its very interesting how 'calm' the resident lasombra is because the entire clan jas a reputation for killing all their elders and their progenitor (the antediluvean) because the sabbat took the gehenna prophecy to heart.

First off all my concerns about how an Elder Lasombra was going to be received in modern Seattle have been covered satisfactory, at least for me. Outstar was obviously aware of us old VTM players having concerns about a possibly Sabbat Lasombra turning up and the reactions from the other vampires we would expect. She picked perfect scenes that covered every angle, at least as far as I am concerned. Phyre gets a much more specific reaction from all the sects which is excellent. Even Fabian sounds a little more wary. I also like that Onda the resident Lasombra is not comfortable around Phyre. Reminds me of the Lasombra Julia in Shadows of New York and how she might react to an Elder just muscling in on her turf. Well done to the Devs for listening to those who know the Lore.
Also shout out for both including a priest outfit AND that wearing it gives the Lasombra special conversation options. That took special attention to detail. Another well done from me.
Powers of Oblivion from VTM v5 (and VTM v2) comparison:
Shadow Cloak is one of the Lvl 1 power choices +2 bonus to stealth rolls and intimidation against mortals.
Arms of Ahriman is a Lvl 2 ability that Conjures shadow appendages that the user can control but the user is unable to do anything else.
Shadow Step is a Lvl 5 ability. The user can step into one shadow and appear in another within their sight.
Glimpse of Oblivion seems to be closest to the LVl 2 Dominate ability Dementation – Drive others insane with fear of seeing their inner demons. Combined with Mas Manipulation Dominate Ability you can send a whole army running from you.
Enter Oblivion the only one I could find that comes close to this is either the old VTM v2 Obtenebration Lvl 10! ability Banishment: Send someone to the Abyss for an extended period of time. Damn talk about going to the max on that final level
I wonder if the priest outfit will be exclusive to Lasombra?

8:23 Yeah not piercings but implants / shavings. It’s trendy to do that in the alt subculture. To emphasize your natural k9’s to mimic fangs especially if you don’t have naturally long ones. My guess it’s a cosmetic option to make it so you look more like a skezzed out alt person in the city. Probably makes being more aggressive or feared easier
I was afraid that they wouldn't tell Phyre that the Lasombra had joined the Camarilla, since Phyre had entered torpor before that and it would be overlooked, very well done

So far their marketing has been on point. I just wish they named it something else cause fans with certain expectations keep complaining and it sends people the wrong message.
I love the Lasombra, I am now torn which I should play first, the ventrue or the lasombra.
Your story doesn't quite add up is grammatically correct, but what she says "Your story don't quite add up" is used in street slang! So in a way you are right.
