EA’s website has been updated to include the Switch alongside alongside PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There hasn’t been a reveal from EA itself, so either this listing is a mistake or it was added to the site prematurely.

The update was first spotted by @TheHenfordHen on Twitter, and Googling the game brings up exactly what their screenshot shows. You can see it embedded below.

It’s worth noting that the Castle DLC leaked on January 11 and was revealed only five days later on January 16, so an announcement could be imminent. As for how The Sims 4 will run on Switch, we can only speculate. It could be a fully-fledged port, bringing the now ten-year-old game to Nintendo hardware natively, or it could be cloud-based, as with titles like Kingdom Hearts and Hitman.

Not only were there GBA, Wii, and DS versions of the main games, but there were several spin-offs like The Urbz: Sims in the City which launched on GameCube, GBA, and DS. From 2008 to 2009, there was even a string of MySims games that were exclusively available on Wii and DS.

Another concern fans have for a possible Switch port is how it will handle all of the expansions. When you have a number of them installed, it can get pretty demanding to run the game – even on a PS5. This is why the idea of it being a cloud version is floating around.

Another theory fans have is that it will launch on the mythical Nintendo Switch 2. Leaks have been ramping up as of late, with claims of it being on par with PS4 and Xbox One, so it may be that this newer hardware sparks ports like this one. But Nintendo hasn’t announced its new console and no details are official yet, so we’re back to speculating.

At any rate, the official EA website lists Switch as a platform for The Sims 4, so it looks likely that a port is underway in some shape or form.
