Tips To Best Play Nell’s Diner In Phasmophobia

Step into Nell’s Diner, Phasmophobia’s cozy little nightmare on a plate. Don’t let the neon signs and retro booths fool you; this one-story roadside eatery may look quaint, but it hides more than just leftover fries. Unlike sprawling locations where you can spread out and cautiously investigate, Nell’s Diner keeps you on edge, forcing a keen ear for every creak and whisper.

Every step counts in this compact map. In this guide, we’ll break down the layout, hiding spots, and strategic tips to help you survive and thrive without giving away the full ghostly surprises.

What Are The Ghost Rooms In Nell’s Diner?

The map consists of these rooms: the front Dining Area and Counter Area (counted as two separate rooms), the Foyer, Kitchen, Storage, Break Room, Hallway, Staff Hallway, and various restrooms and utility rooms like the Janitor’s Closet, Manager’s Office, Men’s and Women’s Bathrooms, Staff Bathroom, and the Cooler Room.

The Dining Area and Counter Area are the map’s largest spaces, which can make spotting and collecting evidence more challenging.

What Are The Best Hiding Spots In Nell’s Diner?

Because of Nell’s Diner’s small size, hiding is limited, and every second counts when a hunt begins.

The Storage Room and Cooler Room both have food carts that can serve as cover during hunts, while the Hallway offers a small nook behind the blue vending machine. The Men’s and Women’s Bathrooms also provide stalls that can be used for hiding. Lastly, the Break Room contains lockers that offer full concealment when the ghost is actively hunting, making it one of the safest spots on the map if you can reach it in time.

When choosing a hiding spot, proximity matters. Running from one side of the diner to another will almost always end in disaster. Keep track of where each hiding spot is in relation to where the ghost manifests, and plan escape routes early.

There is an exit out the front and the back, so plan your post-hunt escape accordingly.

Because the map is so compact, ghosts can quickly close the gap between you and your hiding spots, and sound cues like flickering lights or footsteps can feel amplified. Make use of smudge sticks and pre-positioned crucifixes to buy extra seconds during hunts.

Temperature checks can also be deceptive due to the Cooler Room’s permanent chill, so rely on multiple forms of evidence, especially EMF and Spirit Box, to avoid false positives. And since the Foyer is prone to sanity drain, limit idle time there by regrouping in lit areas like the Dining or Counter Area instead.
