What's wild to think about is that GTA5 was made back in 2013 and is still the standard we use to compare other games to. The strong story line, the emersive environment players can get lost in, and the attention to the smallest of details that have nothing to do with the actual story progression, make the GTA world so easy to fall into and provide players with almost endless hours of gameplay. The only negative takeaway, if any, is that by setting the bar so high, players are going to expect the next installment of the GTA games to, at the very least, be as good as the previous. With all the postponements that have plagued Rock Star pertaining to GTA 6, even the most impatient of the player base will agree that as long as it's done right, they're willing to wait.

Mafia II Original : better atmosphere (you know that italian mafia feeling) than GTA games
Sleeping Dogs : better hand to hand combat and it also has many mechanics that GTA doesnt have (take hostage, grab, ram vehicle, hijack vehicle, use environment weapons etc)
Red Dead 2 : more advanced than GTA in almost every mechanic and other game features
Scarface World is Yours : underrated gem

red dead 1 is alright but 2 is essentially a gender studies course. you play as a guy in a commune who despises people more successful than himself, with constant references to the "evil rich white oil men". if i wanted to learn about marxism id read das kapital. but sadly its poorly written. if you disregard the communist storyline and focus on nothing but the world and gameplay it becomes a 8/10 but story included its a 2/10. and dont get me started on sadie.
