Ubisoft forms Massive Entertainment to focus on Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and more

Yesterday’s job listings made it clear that Ubisoft is still filling key leadership roles for the Splinter Cell Remake, suggesting the project is nowhere near full production. Today, Ubisoft has announced another internal shake‑up, with Splinter Cell now being folded under Massive Entertainment.

Ubisoft has renamed its Creative House 2 division to Massive Entertainment, a newly unified team consisting of studios across Sweden, Paris, Toronto and Montreal, focusing on Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy franchises, including The Division, Ghost Recon and of course, Splinter Cell.

Ubisoft says the shift to the Massive Entertainment label is intended to centralise creative direction and technology across its Tom Clancy franchises. Rather than each studio operating semi‑independently, the company wants these teams working under a single identity with shared priorities and pipelines. In practice, this means Splinter Cell is now part of a broader multi‑franchise structure, rather than a clearly defined standalone effort with its own dedicated leadership.

Christoph Hartmann, who now oversees Massive Entertainment, says the goal is to “shape the next generation” of these franchises and support new IP. Ubisoft adds that existing commitments will continue unchanged. However, with Splinter Cell still hiring for foundational roles and now being absorbed into a wider organisational reshuffle, there is little evidence that the remake is going to come out anytime soon.

KitGuru Says: Splinter Cell isn’t cancelled, but it also isn’t any closer to being finished. Maybe now that there is clear leadership in place, that will change over the next couple of years.
