There are no strings on me…
One of the things that has helped keep Marvel Rivals in the public eye and keep people playing it isn’t just its free-to-play structure or the incredible amounts of fan service that it keeps dishing out, though those two things certainly help; it’s that the dev team continues to offer new content for players to enjoy. Key among those content updates are the new characters that will be added every six weeks. Season 1 was all about the Fantastic Four and bringing the “first family” to the game. The second season brought Emma Frost to the mix first, and in one week, it’s bringing Ultron.
For those who don’t know, Ultron is one of the greatest enemies that the Avengers have ever faced, and the Marvel universe has ever known. It was the creation of Hank Pym in most universes, not including the MCU for various reasons, and Ultron always had the same goal: to wipe out everything and rule over it all.
Due to its vast intelligence and the ability to create a robotic army that it could transfer its intelligence to, Ultron has always been hard to beat, and now, he’s about to be in Marvel Rivals.
To that end, the first official trailer for Ultron in the game has arrived. Here’s the official description of the character from the trailer and then the trailer itself:
“Ultron has returned as humanity’s judge. After years in exile beyond the stars, his purpose is clear: wipe organic life from the timeline and take control of the future.”
There are some interesting things to note in both of those. First, the backstory is a little different than his main comic forms. It’ll be curious to learn why he was “exiled to the stars” and what led him to come back, or if it really is just to be “humanity’s judge.” As for Ultron’s move set, the game clearly wants him to be an accurate character who can take down foes while also defending himself from attacks. Not to mention, being able to summon clones of himself and firing numerous attacks at once could be a potential game-changer in the clutch.
We’re sure that when the Season 2.5 update drops, many of you will try out Ultron and see just what the mechanical entity has to offer and whether it’ll become your new main character. We’re also sure that many of you will soon get very eager for Season 3 and wonder who will show up next.
