Wardogs has shaken the FPS scene ever since the co-op focused role-based multiplayer shooter first launched in Early Access last month – amassing more than 3 million players in its first few weeks. Despite its relatively recent release, the team at BULKHEAD have been hard at work on improving the game while continuing to add to it. Officially going live today, Season 02 of Wardogs is bringing with it a ton of new gameplay additions alongside countless bug fixes / adjustments.
Taking to their Steam page to detail the update, the team at BULKHEAD officially released their full set of patch notes for Wardogs Season 02. As mentioned, the full list is incredibly lengthy, and includes hundreds of adjustments made to the game’s unlock system; in-game equipment costs; QoL improvements; bug fixes and more.
In terms of new and substantive content, there is likewise much to look forward to, including but not limited to:
- Four new weapons
- TCX-SPR – Assault Rifle
- PP-19 Bizon – SMG
- Evo-3 Ultra – LMG
- M14 – Marksman Rifle
- Four new vehicles
- Wolf-110 – A fast, light wheeled transport
- Wolf-110 [M2 Browning] – The Wolf-110 with a ring-mounted M2 Browning
- T-72B3 – Battle tank
- Flakpanzer Gepard – Anti Air Vehicle
- Three new buildables
- MG Nest – A manned M2 Browning emplacement
- Large Shelter – A large metal shelter “for covering key assets or keeping the rain off”
- Wooden Step
- New ‘Rain’ weather preset which directly impacts gameplay
- New Wager Vendor (coming later in S02)
- 17 new weapon attachments / magazines
The full patch notes goes into far greater depth, and details some of Wardogs’ more unique aspects, such as a change to equipable helmets which will now muffle audio, restrict your FOV and can fog over while sprinting – adding to the overall sense of realism. In a similar vein, the newly-added Molotov can interact with the world in different ways, burning foliage while being negatively impacted by rain.
One of the biggest issues faced by successful live-service offerings (especially in the FPS space) is a lack of content and update cadence, leading players to ultimately return to their previous multiplayer game of choice. Fortunately, not only does Wardogs offer its own unique spin on the genre, but the team appears committed to supporting the title in substantive ways. Hopefully they are able to keep this pace up.
