Warhammer 40k: Darktide — How to Apply Weapon Skins and Trinkets

You have a handful of obvious cosmetic options for your characters in Warhammer 40k: Darktide, buy applying skins and trinkets to your weapons isn’t so clear. With Imperial Edition owners getting their goodies in and weapon skins available right at the Armoury Exchange, you’ll want to know how to apply weapon skins and trinkets.

It’s possible that putting skins on weapons will be made a bit easier in later Darktide updates, but for the time being it’s a little out of the way and separate from how you apply other cosmetics to your rejects.

Cosmetics that you apply to your character directly can be chosen right in the Wargear screen when you press the I key and swap over to the Cosmetics tab. You can apply clothing, portrait frame, and insignias in the Cosmetics tab, as well as choose between stances. But weapon skins are nowhere to be found in this menu — they’ve got to be accessed elsewhere.

How to Apply Weapon Skins and Trinkets in Darktide

You don’t have to wander far to customize your weapons’ appearance. Still in the Wargear menu, you’ll want to focus on the Loadout tab.

Select the weapon in your inventory that you want to apply a skin to and then either press the C key or click on the ‘Appearance’ button at the bottom right of the screen.

You can choose your weapon skin from here and just click Confirm to apply it.

If you are trying to apply a trinket to a weapon, look to the top left portion of the Appearance screen.

There are two icons above your skin selection, one for weapon appearance and one for trinkets. Click over to the trinket tab to select and confirm your trinket selection for that weapon.

You’ll have to do this for each new weapon you equip and want to customize, but it’s just a few clicks to take care of it.

This is one of the more minor things to know about in Darktide, but being able to customize your character and weapons makes them that more special when you’ve got Perks and Blessings you’re particularly pleased with. We’ve got more Darktide guides coming here on GameSkinny, though none of them will be about how Ogryn are all good boys. They are, though.
