Watch Sephiroth Set Shibuya on Fire to Celebrate Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Release

With the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth coming tomorrow, Square Enix is celebrating with a massive promotional campaign in Japan, and today its centerpiece has been showcased.

One of the elements that make the famous Scramble Crossing in front of Shibuya station in Tokyo is the massive screens that pretty much decorate the facade of every building.

Square Enix rented many of them to pretty much “set the place on fire” with one of the most iconic scenes of the game (and its classic predecessor) featuring the antagonist Sephiroth.

Since this is so spectacular not to share it with the world, today Square Enix has published a video that shows one of these takeovers, which are now happening at set times in Shibuya.

You can watch it below, and imagine being surrounded by fiery Sephiroth. It’d likely be great to put you in the mood to play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth when it releases tomorrow. February 29, for PS5. If you haven’t already, you can still pre-order a physical copy on Amazon.

Incidentally, pre-load is now available, so you can already start downloading the game to get ready when it unlocks tonight. While you download, you could watch Sephiroth in a definitely less serious guise, alongside the countdown trailers that have showcased the main members of the cast.

If you really, really can’t wait, a demo is also up for grabs, and it has recently been updated with more content and graphics improvements.

If you need motivation, you can read our positive review, which awarded Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with a near-perfect 9.5 out of 10, and find more information in our interview with director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase.
