As you go through the city of Seattle in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 and meet various entities in the vampire world, you’ll quickly become the errand person for most of the players in this game. As you explore and progress further through the game, you’ll continuously get new main quests that ask you to do various things.
Some of these quests might even have different endings depending on your choices, and they can impact the final ending of your playthrough. A Star Of Cold Aspect is one such quest, since you get to decide what you want to do with Benny at its end.
How To Start A Star Of Cold Aspect Quest
You’ll have to progress through quite a bit of the main story to reach A Star Of Cold Aspect quest in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. However, it is a main quest, so there’s no chance of you missing out on it. To reach this quest, you’ll first have to enter the Weaver Tower and ascend in it to get an audience with Prince Ryong.
When that happens, Ryong will already start trusting you a little and ask you to meet at the Makom Bar the next day. Before that, you’ll have to rest at the haven and go through Fabien’s first flashback. As soon as you’re done with this flashback, you’ll wake up in the haven and this quest will start.
After meeting Prince Ryong in Makom Bar, she’ll tell you about the mess left by Benny near the back entrance of the building, and ask you to deal with it. To find this mess, you can take the path on the right of where Ryong was sitting, which will lead you to the same place where you found the body in Fabien’s flashback.
Take the exit through the back room here and you’ll see a body against a big truck ahead. Interact with this body to get Benny’s scent, after which, you can use your Heightened Sense to detect his trail. This trail will lead you to the bottom of the map behind the Glacier Hotel, where you’ll have to defeat a few Anarchs.
How To Find Benny
After defeating all the Anarchs near the Glacier Hotel, you can open a dumpster with the marker to find another one hiding inside, who will tell you that Benny can be found at his haven, which is his auto repair shop. The next step is to get to this shop, and you’ll see it get marked on the map with a blue marker.
As you try to enter through the main door, you’ll find out that it’s locked. After trying the door, use your Heightened Sense to see some scratches leading to the roof of the shop, where you’ll find a window that leads you inside. You can use these to enter and meet Max in the room ahead. He’ll tell you about Benny’s location, and you can also choose the “You are not to blame.” option to make him feel better.
For the next part of the quest, you’ll have to follow the mark and reach the Western construction site of Seattle. When you reach this area, you’ll find it swarmed with Anarchs, though you don’t have to defeat them all. Instead, you can sneak your way to the door with the blue mark and then distract the nearby enemies with a bottle or other abilities.
The ability that makes an enemy’s blood boil and attracts all other enemies towards him is the best for this scenario.
Once you’ve distracted the Anarchs, you can get close to the door and trigger a dialogue, which will also reveal Benny’s trail in white when you’re using Heightened Sense.
You can easily follow this trail into the building and go down a couple of floors to reach Benny’s location. On your way, you’ll be meeting tons of Anarchs, and the best way to deal with them is with stealth. You can also find gas cylinders around the area, and these can be used to defeat multiple enemies if you group them up.
If you don’t have the skills required to group up these enemies, these cylinders are best used against elite Anarchs. At the bottom, you’ll find Benny covered in a wall of cement, and when you get close to him, you’ll get a few options. Regardless of the options you choose here, you’ll break into a fight with him.
How To Defeat Benny
Benny will be your first boss fight in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, and you can see his HP bar at the top of your screen. However, you’ll have to get rid of this HP bar three times before you can defeat him. From the start, Benny mainly has two attacks and you can easily identify when he’s about to trigger them as his body glows red:
- In one attack, he simply charges for a second and then uses his claws to slash in the area ahead.
- The second attack comes in three phases. First, he jumps and kicks the air, which is instantly followed by him dashing to the ground. While you might think the attack ends here, he does the above slash attack every time right after this one.
Apart from these two attacks, Benny can also quickly dash to your location if you’re too far away from him. The fastest way to defeat him is by going around the battlefield and looking for blue objects with your Heightened Sight. These objects are usually guns that you can use to deal a bunch of damage.
If you’re trying to have a melee battle with Benny and he tries to block your attacks, you can use a charged attack to break his block.
When the second and third phases of this fight start, four Anarchs will spawn on the battlefield and start attacking both you and Benny, whichever is closer to them. At this time, it’s highly recommended to aggro the Anarchs on Benny and let them fight each other before you get involved. This will do two things for you.
Firstly, Benny will lose some HP and get rid of the enemies, and secondly, the defeated enemies will drop weapons that you can use against Benny. During the third phase, Benny will also get a stomp attack where he’ll deal a ton of damage in an AoE after some charge-up. It’s important to keep your distance during this attack.
What Should You Do With Benny?
After you defeat Benny, Katsumi will come to the scene and give you two choices. You can either go against her and try to take Benny to Ryong, or you can leave Benny with him. This choice is partially an illusion since you won’t be fighting Katsumi even if you decide to take Benny with you, though she will get angry.
On the other hand, if you leave Benny with Katsumi, Ryong will be disappointed with you. You’ll become the Sheriff of Seattle regardless of this choice, but your decision here might impact the final ending you get. Other than that, you can choose “Alright. let us talk.” option to get a positive reaction from Katsumi.
