In Alan Wake 2, Words of Power can only be collected when playing as Alan inside the Dark Place. There are twenty-seven Words of Power found throughout the Dark Place. They appear as circular glowing scribbles only revealed when you shine your flashlight at them. Keep an eye out for glowing arrows, they’ll point you toward the magical scribbles.

Out of the 27 Words of Power, there are seven categories: Words of Fix, Words of Stuff, Words of Lamp, Words of War, Words of Gun, Words of Action, and Words of Aid. However, you have a limited number of Words of Power and won’t be able to max out each category. So, choose wisely.
Words Of Power #1-6 In The Main Plaza – Initiation 2: Casey
Word Of Power #1, Word Of Fix #1
Use the angel lamp on the flickering light at the end of the alley, it’ll reveal a looped tunnel, walk through it, and you’ll see the Word of Power on the inside wall above the doorway.
Word Of Power #2, Word Of Lamp #1
To the right of the entrance to Caldera Station, there’s a stairwell that takes you above street level. You’ll see a flickering light in front of a blocked-off stairwell. Use your angel lamp on it to reveal the entrance, then make your way to the rooftops. You’ll eventually make your way to a safe room.
Beside the safe room, you’ll notice some of the aforementioned yellow arrows. You’ll see the Word of Power tucked away beside a generator.
Word Of Power #3, Word Of War #1
Make your way across the scaffold bridge and through the doors. Right before you approach the cop car, turn left, and you’ll see a ladder leading up to a billboard. Go up the ladder and all the way to the end. You’ll see the Word of Power behind a garbage bag.
Word Of Power #4, Word Of Gun #1
Go up the small set of stairs behind the cop car and immediately on your left, you’ll see the Word of Power on the wall.
Word Of Power #5, Word Of Action #1
From the cop car, continue through the tunnel and turn left onto Draft St. (the one underneath the train track bridge). Right before the hot dog stand, look up, and you’ll see the Word of Power on the ceiling of the overpass.
Word Of Power #6, Word Of Fix #2
Head over to Wheeler St. and across from the dinner are two pay phones outside the Talk Show Studio. To the right of the payphones, you’ll see a yellow arrow pointing downward at the Word of Power on the floor.
Words of Power #7-16 In The Subway Station – Initiation 2: Casey
Word Of Power #7, Word Of Gun #2
It is recommended that you collect all the subway Words of Power the first time around. Backtracking will become very hard due to a persistent bug that doesn’t let you change scenes.
Use an angel lamp to open up the entrance to the subway terminal. Go all the way to the right and you’ll see a subway car. Look inside the window and you’ll see the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #8, Word Of Aid #1
Located directly across from the first safe room you’ll find inside the subway station. Go to the very end of the wall, and you’ll see a yellow arrow pointing to the right. Turn around, and you’ll see another arrow pointing to the left. The Word of Power will be directly beside the arrow.
Word Of Power #9, Word Of Lamp #2
Enter the large collapsed tunnel and go through the door on the right. There are two smaller tunnels that are side by side. Go through the first tunnel, and you’ll see a light illuminating a large cart. Use your angel lamp and the cart will disappear, revealing a room. Behind a shelf inside the room, you’ll find the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #10, Word Of War #2
From the second safe room you’ll find in the subway, go up the ladder. Once you get to the top of the ladder, turn around and go underneath some scaffolding. Immediately look up, and you’ll spot the Word of Power on the ceiling.
Word Of Power #11, Word Of Action #2
Standing in the Derailed Train scene, change the scene to Torchbearers, and you’ll be able to pass through the derailed train and climb down a ladder. In the room to the right of the ladder, there is some drywall with three yellow arrows pointing at it. Shooting through the drywall will reveal the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #12, Word Of Fix #3
Head from the ladder you just climbed down and continue into the next area. On your left, you’ll see a ticket room full of Shadows. On the wall above the concession stand is the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #13, Word Of Lamp #3
Once you make your way out of the previous area, you’ll enter Shrine St. Station (you’ll have to use a series of angel lamps to make it through). Once you enter the decrepit subway terminal, make an immediate left into the flooded area.
Keep walking into the darkness until you see graffiti on the wall to your left. Right next to the graffiti is the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #14, Word Of Gun #3
From the entrance to Shrine St. Station, head right this time through an empty subway car. Once through, immediately turn left and aim your flashlight at the subway car beside it. The Word of Power will be on the car.
Word Of Power #15, Word Of Action #3
Once you reach the End of The Line scene, use the Murder Cult scene to change realities and reveal an echo that unlocks the Summoning Ritual scene. Change into the Summoning Ritual scene, and it’ll unlock a path to continue forward through the station and into a room.
The Word of Power will be on the wall beside a fridge (perfect if you’re also hungry).
Word Of Power #16, Word Of Fix #4
Right after you collect the previous Word of Power, continue up a set of stairs toward the next safe room. Straight past the safe room, behind a metal gate, is a large “Night Springs” advertisement â the Word of Power is to the left of it.

Word Of Power #17-20 In The Back Alley & Rooftop Area – Initiation 5: Room 665
Word Of Power #17, Word Of Aid #2
Head down Ocean Ave a little bit past Oceanview Hotel. Across from the hotel, you’ll see two payphones. Tucked in the corner of a building above some dumpsters, you’ll find the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #18, Word Of Aid #3
As you’re running around the southern part of the rooftops, look for a glowing arrow that points towards the Word of Power. It will be on a piece of metal on a rooftop.
Word Of Power #19, Word Of Lamp #4
In the northern part of the rooftops, you’ll see a door with a flickering light above it. You can use the angel lamp on the door to change where it takes you. If you don’t use the angel lamp and go through the door, you’ll see a water tower on your left. The Word of Power will be on it.
This Word of Power can be seen from a variety of spots on the rooftop. However, you won’t be able to collect it from all the spots.

After collecting the previous perk, go back up through the door and turn right down some metal stairs. You’ll hear Tim Breaker humming. Look for a crawl space and go under it. You’ll see the Word of Power below a stairway in the small alley.
Word Of Power #21-23 In Oceanview Hotel
Word Of Power #21, Word Of War #3
Head over to room 224 on the second floor of Oceanview Hotel. Go into the washroom. There will be some drywall blocking the way, shoot through the dry wall, and head through the crawl space. You’ll find the Word of Power on the shower wall.
Word Of Power #22, Word Of War #4
Head out of room 224 and go straight down the hallway. Make a left at the locked stairwell area, labeled as “second floor hallway” on your map. Look through the glass above the first locked door, the Word of Power will be visible.
Word Of Power #23, Word Of Stuff #1
Head over to the ballroom on the second floor of Oceanview Hotel. The Word of Power will be on the ceiling of the bar.
Word Of Power #24-27 In Poet’s Cinema – Initiation 8: Zane’s Film

Head over to Poet’s Cinema. From the lobby, you’ll see a safe room to your right. Go up the stairs, then make a right once you reach the top. On the wall, you’ll see the Word of Power.
Word Of Power #25, Word Of Action #4
From the lobby, head left into the washrooms. Go through the washrooms and you’ll enter a small storage area. The Word of Powder will be on the ceiling at the end of the room.
Word Of Power #26, Word Of Stuff #2
Head over to the rooftops of Poet’s Cinema. To do this, you’ll have to enter through the back lot and use the angel lamp. Once you reach the rooftop, go towards the two giant spotlights. Look for graffiti on a large piece of drywall.
From the graffiti, look down to where the roof slants. On the far left, you’ll find the Word of Power in the corner of the wall.
Word Of Power #27, Word Of Lamp #5
From the ladder that takes you to the top rooftop of Poet’s Cinema, head to the right near the maintenance rooms. Enter the room with Tim Breaker and go through the next door. You’ll see the Word of Power on a water tower directly outside the door.
