Shiny Pearls are one of several new materials you’ll need in Pokemon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin DLC for various building projects, including rebuilding the Pokemon Center. Unfortunately, they can’t be found lying around Bubbly Basin, at least not in their shiny form, so it will take some work to build up a steady supply.
To get Shiny Pearls, you’ll first need to find Grubby Pearls and then bring them to a Pokemon with the Scrub ability to clean them off. This means you’ll also need to build habitats for Pokemon with the Scrub Ability to acquire Shiny Pearls.
Where To Find Grubby Pearls
As mentioned, since Pearls cannot be found while Shiny, you’ll need to hunt for Grubby Pearls instead. The Grubby Pearls appear in sandy areas as a small sphere covered in sand. They will only ever appear on sand blocks, so don’t bother searching areas that are mostly other materials.
The main areas to search include the far north-west side of the map, where the lab with the Poke Portal and a small covered seating area with a vending machine can be found, as well as the cave-like area that you can find by taking the hall on the right side of the main Bubbly Basin staircase.
You should also swim closer to the surface, as most of that landscape is sand, and you may find some there too.
For those who already have the Starmie Doll, the Dream Island that Drifloon takes you to with that Doll also has Grubby Pearls as one of its main materials for harvesting.
How To Turn Grubby Pearls Into Shiny Pearls
Once you have a supply of Grubby Pearls, you’ll need to bring them to a Pokemon with Scrub. At some point in the game’s progression, Mareanie will ask you to build Cloyster’s habitat so you can make them a Shiny Pearl. If you’re not there yet, then the other Pokemon with the Scrub ability are listed in the table below.

You only need one of these Pokemon to make Shiny Pearls, but the more you have, the more Pearls you can clean at one time. To make Shiny Pearls, bring your Grubby Pearls to one of the above Pokemon and show them to them.
They’ll offer to Scrub up to ten at a time for you, but the more Pearls you hand over, the longer you’ll need to wait. They won’t hand them back over until all the Pearls are cleaned, so keep that in mind if you need just one or two quickly to complete a task.
That said, even scrubbing all ten is a relatively short wait if you have a few other things to do in the meantime. With that, you now have Shiny Pearls!
