Crimson Desert is a new open-world RPG where you play as a mercenary called Kliff who is attempting to rebuild his clan after a brutal defeat. While you will spend most of your time completing quests, battling bosses, or solving puzzles in the sky, there are a lot of items you can pass by if you’re not willing to explore.
One of these is the Helfryn Leather armor, which is found in the capital city of the Demeniss region. Here is how to get this hidden armor and what each piece does.
Black Sun Shield Location
To find the shield, you will want to head to the castle in the southern portion of the city and look for a long bridge leading from the streets to the main castle. Jump down into the water and go under the archway (shown above) that is farthest from the castle itself. Face the castle and stab your knife into the wall with Left Trigger.
Now perform a Force Push to flip the trick wall over and give you access to a small room with a chest containing the Black Sun shield. The shield itself is at Refinement Level 4, has 7 Defense, and provides a Movement Speed Level 2 buff. It also has two Abyss Gear slots, which contain Damage Reduction 1 and Guard Stamina Cost reduction cores already placed.
If you’re struggling to get the gear in Demeniss’ city, I recommend coming back after you complete Chapter 8. This will make the city itself not hostile to your presence, which allows you to easily explore and gather all these items

Helfryn Leather Armor Set Location
Helfryn Leather Boots Location
As for the armor, starting with the boots, you will want to make your way to the main castle on the south side of the city capital. Go outside and look at the main gate that leads into the city. To the right of the gate, along the wall, there will be a small hole that’s covered by a bunch of wooden boards. Approach the boards and give them a smack with your weapon to break the wood.
Now go into the hole, and you’ll find a small room with the chest, which contains the Helfryn Leather Boots and a Palmer Pill. The boots themselves are Refinement Level 3, have 15 Attack, 4 Defense, Critical Rate Level 2, and Lightning Resistance 1. It also has two Abyss Gear slots, which give you 10 percent increased Silver acquired and Fire Resistance Level 1.
Helfryn Leather Armor Location
For the chest piece, you’re going to need to make your way to the southeast side of the city. Look for a large set of connected, white stone towers. At ground level, look for the front of the bell tower (the taller of the two) and go to the left side. You’ll know where the front is due to the large crowd of soldiers and citizens out front.
Climb up about halfway along the left side of the tower until you reach an area with a small stone ledge you can stand on and several short columns. Look for a spot where the columns form a small rectangle (shown above) and press Kliff against it. Now push the stone wall in to reveal a secret hidden chamber. Inside, you will find a chest with the Helfryn Leather Armor.
The chest piece itself comes in at Refinement Level 3, boasts 9 Defense, Lightning Resistance 1, and 3 Abyss Gear slots. These slots have a health regen, swim speed, and damage reduction Abyss Gear orbs already attached to the armor.
Helfryn Leather Gloves Location
Now head north to the interior wall and look for a guard tower with a bunch of vines growing along one side of it. Approach the tower and climb up along the southern side, where all the vines are growing. Just below the roof, you can find a secret flip wall to the left of the vines (shown above).
Embed your knife into the wall with the Left Trigger and then perform a Force Palm strike. This will ensure you stay planted to the wall as it flips and sends you to the secret treasure room on the other side. If you don’t hold the resist button, then you’ll be flung off as the wall rotates instead of gaining access to the room where the gloves are.
Now just open the chest, and you’ll get the Helfryn Leather Gloves. These are Refinement Level 3, which has 16 Attack, 4 Defense, Lightning Resistance 1, and Critical Rate 1. Additionally, they come with two Abyss Gear slots, which are taken up by one that gives a 10 percent chance to find an additional item when pick pocketing and a climb speed multiplier.
Helfryn Leather Cloak Location
For the cloak, we thankfully don’t need to go too far. Go back outside the tower where you found the gloves and look at the side you performed the Force Push on to get into the secret room. To the left of it, there will be a U-shaped building with a brown roof. Look for a window on the second floor that you can open just above a stone arch.
Climb through the window and into the attic, you’ll find the cloak in the back right corner. The cloak boasts 3 Defense and 5 Ice Resistance, which makes it ideal for exploring Pailune.
