If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to get into Genshin Impact rival Wuthering Waves, this is it. Not only has developer Kuro Games finally brought the sci-fi gacha experience to Steam, but the launch coincides with the huge 2.3 update and new anniversary events as well. Available for free on Valve’s platform right now, this version of WuWa is compatible with its PS5 and mobile counterparts, so it’s ideal for new players jumping in with friends and veterans alike.
But it isn’t just Wuthering Waves‘ Genshin-style open world that makes it exciting, as the gacha game also puts a huge focus on its battle system. With combat not dissimilar to Devil May Cry and Dark Souls, you can overcome almost any challenge if you’ve got the skills. If not, you can just roll on some of WuWa’s banners for new characters and weapons while simultaneously crossing your fingers.
Wuthering Waves launches on Steam alongside the game’s newest update and anniversary celebrations. WuWa 2.3, called Fiery Arpeggio of Summer Reunion, is filled with extra content. You can try and pull new 5-Star Resonators Zani and Ciaccona from their banners, both of whom offer even more ways to play. Zani also has their own companion story, which you can permanently access now that 2.3 is here. There are also two new weapon banners – the Blazing Justice gauntlets and Woodland Aria pistols – giving you extra firepower against the toughest opponents.
But that’s not all: to celebrate the game’s anniversary, there’s a whole slew of events and activities available. You can get involved with combat challenges, leisure activities, photography, and even nab some login bonuses, too. Most of these events are running until Wednesday June 11, with the 2.3 patch notes breaking each down.
Despite being on Steam for less than a day, Wuthering Waves is already doing well on Valve’s platform. The game has over 2,000 user reviews at a ‘very positive’ rating of 87%, with many returning players touting it as the premier gacha game. WuWa’s player count is holding steady at an impressive 10,000 concurrents, too, making it one of the bigger games on the platform already.
